My car has sprung a leak between the power steering pump and the connection at the rack. Between the pump and the rack is a short metal pipe, rubber tube and another metal pipe. I have a leak where the rubber pipe connects to the metal pipe that runs down from the pump.
I understand that the whole section will need to be replaced. Unless anybody has any bright ideas as to how to fix this I'd appreciate it. Can I cut the rubber and use jubilee clips? I realise that this is very high pressure so need to get it right.
If I replace the whole section am I right in thinking that I need new seals for where it joins the rack? Available from Ford? Anybody have any?
In this photo it is the rubber tub with the two blue plastic clips hanging on it. And it is leaking at the end where it meets the metal pipe underneath the pump.

Thanks,
Charlie

I noticed mine had a leak on this same pipe too when i removed it.
I just cut the pipe and fitted a piece of metal tube in its place, have not used it since doing this so not sure if its now water tight but will give it a go.
Im sure Pirtek or another pipe making place should be able to sort it for you too, they will prob just fit a new black pipe.
Mart.

Mine is leaking from the metal donut where the metal meets rubber. Where did you cut?
The metal pipe also has a kink in it from a knock in an accident.

... I've just recently replaced all the perishable parts in my PAS system
.
I made a lot of my hoses using good gear from hydraulic specialists (Pirtek is one).
The hose you are after was the only hose still available from Ford so I bought it and replaced mine only cause it was looking crusty
(it was not leaking). The o ring will need to be replaced and are very cheap (I can find the number for you if need be) ... the hose was expensive
.
I dont know about repairing the hose where your talking ... you could take it in to a hydraulic shop and I would be surprised if the couldn't come up with something to repair it ... it depends if you want it looking original or not

.And the o ring number would be useful. If I can get this from Ford I will. Anybody know a Ford place in South East London?
Tabetha, from what I understand this is very high pressure.
