Default What cps on ZVH

Well... my efi conversion is almost at a halt

Can't get an rpm reading but my cps is giving 2.5-3 volts when cranking...

What cps are all the zvh owners here using? the zetec or the cvh???

thanx

is it using the edis module? It's not the CPS - they are all the same, if it's giving out 3v when crancking it's fine.

Using a cvh flywheel.

Got a cvh and a zetec sensor here and the cvh is longer....

Anyway, ain't using the edis module

Coil is directly driven by the ecu.

You need to match the sensor and bit the sensor fits into, to the flywheel you have.

Ok.. i get a voltage off both of them but the longer one seems to touch the flywheel just so the zetec one will be fitted...

But like Rick is saying.. when it's ginving 3 volts it shoul be ok and my problem is elsewhere.... thanks

The sensor casings are slightly different, but they all work the same - urs is fine by the sounds of it. What ECU are you using? Have you configured that correctly?

Looks like MegaS from your sig. Does it work on the stim? have you configured your trigger angles and wheel decoder? Are you getting anything at all?

I had this same thing bothering me lately. The OFAB CPS hits the back of the efi 220mm flywheel so I'm going to use the original one that was in the mondeo lump.

At first I didn't know if I was going to have to space the fiesta one out but since reading the posts on here other people seem to get by with the zetec one. Still a bit concerned as to whether it will fire up first time though.

I didn't even realise you could directly drive coil packs from a MegaSquirt, I thought that you still needed to use the EDIS module!

A question nobody has asked yet, does the car run?

Yess, if you use direct coil drivers you don't need the edis-module.

Can't run an efi car whithout cps signal..... so no..it's not running

The car can run without an RPM signal out of the ECU to your tacho for example cant it, just not without a CPS signal.

Anyway,

Do you have it wired like this?

www.extraefi.co.uk

Do you have the CPS wired the correct way round and the shield in the correct pin?

I was sure they were both the same CPS but I'd only ever heard of people using the CVH CPS with the zetec 1.8 flywheel or CVH crank pulley.

If you'd used the EDIS module you could have had a better chance of troubleshooting it. The EDIS module can run the ignition without an ECU in a very basic "Limp home mode" so you'd know if your sensor and pickups were fine.

Other than that stick it on a stim and see what you get back!

Hej mate,

i see i didn't explain the whole story

Anyway, i sorted the problem..

I notices today that when i crank it all meters go to zero in megatune....
Hooked up a volt meter to the ms and when i crank it i got no voltage on it....

I did the wiring according to the schedule i got with the ms.
So the yellow powerlead when it's on contact powers everything but when i crank it there's no power on this...

Schould i connect the cranking puls lead as well to the ms so i got power to it when i'm cranking?

Stupid i never saw this before..

Hooked up the MS to a constant powerlead and got a nice 300 rpm when cranking
