Default CPS - Cos...

Hi guys - is it possible to have the cps too close to the crank pulley? - what symptoms would this produce?

Cheers

Rich

Yes it is possible just been through this hassle with my fiesta zvh needing a new sensor and the gap has to be precise or it will cause the car not to start atall.

I tried a 1mm washer then 2mm then 3mm and ended up finding a 1.5mm washer and car sprung into life.Ide assume it would be the same for a cossie tbh as a cps is a cps

You know if it is too close as it will get clouted by the lugs!!
The lugs corrode though so may not be the same height, so if you set it on a low one then a high one comes along and bang, or set on a high one then it is too far away for a low one.
Fortunately the tolerance is very good on the CPS on the cossie at 0.6mm to 1.0mm, which is 0.4mm leaway or 16thou in old money.
