Default don't you just hate selling cars

i mean you put them up for sale and everyone and there dog just wants to take the piss with offering a load less than the asking price.
Really annoys me, and then they have a go at you for being to the point saying you want the asking price which is already really quiet low for what it is.

I recently sold a motorbike on ebay, the starting price was £600 I had a message from someone asking if I would take £300.... Oh and it sold for £800.

You can imagine how much of this we have to put up with.

I HATE selling cars, thank god we've got good salesmen as whenever I'm here I always get in rows with people

I always ask [politely] "Why are you here then?"

You get one of the following answers:

1. It was sold

To which my answer is "I have loads of cheap cars you'd have bought as well that are also sold, funny that."

Or:

2. Your one is much cleaner
3. Your one has fewer miles and better history
4. Your one is a nicer colour

THEN point out they're not comparing like for like and in fact the price isn't important as they clearly didn't want to settle for the other car as it wasn't what they wanted.

Invariably though, I haven't got time for people and tell them I don't want to sell them a car. My dad taught me that one years ago

Thats always the best way

Soon stop fucking moaning then and actually look at the car - another thing that really bugs me, they obviously want the car, so it must be at a price they expect and fit most if not all of their criteria. But they start to try and get the price as low as possible without even looking around the car.

Look at the damn thing first and see if theres anything you aren't happy with, then haggle

You get people trying it on the phone all the time "What's your best price?"

To which the automatic reply is always a figure £1000 more than it's being advertised for. Normally they get the idea but if they don't it's just pointed out they haven't seen the car yet and I wouldn't buy it without seeing it so I don't expect them to and if it's a problem of budget we have cheaper cars or can offer finance.

People HATE to think they can't afford what they want

Not being funny but if you price somet to sell it will sell, if you dont it will take longer and you will have to take it on the chin when people offer you less- thats the way it works.

When I buy a car part of the fun is kicking someone in the teeth on the price.. and also unless the car is fucking perfect why would I want to pay asking price- especially when I am prepared to travel for the right car and dont mind spending all weekend looking at cars untill I find one I want.

For example a Saxo VTS- how many are out there... if I wanted one I'd just go and buy one locally nice n cheap and crack on with it- its hardly a bespoke specialist car is it.... having said that I'm not aware of what it is you have for sale.

Also... when I sell a car- baring in mind I'm no trader, I'd much rather take the first sensible and serious offer I get as money in my pocket is better than a car sat on my drive.

And I know not everyone thinks like that and thats fair do's...

Thats part of the chase.... come on Jay, you're a trader you know when you buy a car you see cheaply etc somewhere you do exactly the same and then when you turn up after getting your best price discount over the phone you then offer less still... its the way it works- your profit keeps dinners on the table and your good business practice ensures people buy the cars you have.

Having said that- you do seem to price your cars well... fancy a deal on the M5 with a 2002 Leon Cupra (not the R)
