Default Insuring two cars

I am currently with Greenlight and have been for a couple of years, but i'm just about to buy a track car and gave them a call to find out how much it would cost to insure so i can drive to and from the tracks. Unfortunately they told me i can only insure one car on my policy, but i could have another policy but it would not include my no claims. (would end up being very expensive)

Does anyone know a decent company that will insure two cars on a policy.

You can only use your NCB on one car, the 2nd car will have to start from 0 NCB. Some Insurance companies will give you a discount for having both cars Insured through them, this is how the Admiral policy works.

Bollocks they will not insure modded cars!!!!

I had three all underwritten by Equity red star with different companys !!!!!

ITS ALL ABOUT MONEY

Ring around most insurance companys will mirror you NCB !!!

Greenlight imo are not very helpfull was with them years ago when they gave me a excellent quote then it went up every year after (without claiming!!)and extra ncb

Sorry Tony but thats how it was

But to be fair theres is a lot of happy people insured with them its all a matter of choice

Hi Paul,

Thanks for your past business and apologies we couldnt keep it down year on year.

The only reason that premiums rise would usually be due to mid term changes, such as extensive performance enhancing mods, or changes such as adding younger drivers and switches to other higher rated vehicles.

I know it's water under the bridge now, but if you get 5 mins spare PM me your actual name and address as for my own piece of mind i'd like to check the situation.

Our premiums would usually reduce year on year with increased NCB, driving experience, more grey hairs etc. thus my looking to check this (assuming you dont mind).

Kind regards

Tony

Paul, sometimes it's not about the broker mate, insurer's will penalise everyone for a poor claims year, you may gain bonus, you and the car are a year older etc, but at the end of the day you are still paying for someone elses mistakes!

Not what you want to hear but that's the way it can be, not right I know but something we all have to deal with, I spend all day explaining it to customers at work

Companies these day's do multi car policies and again, some companies will mirror bonus', but it depends on the insurer and your criteria.

Tony, do you do classic policys? my 3dr should hopefully be done in april, you did give me a quote a couple of years ago that was quite competitive, i just tried to do one online but it says as the car is modded i need to riing etc.

will be for social use only and 3k miles a year, 350+ bhp, cage etc, and id also want a gauranteed value as the build cost will be circa £25k

I would like to know this Tony as maybe i could insure my track day car with you as a classis and thus making it cheaper than going elsewhere.

Hi Dan/Paul,

Most classic policies within the Insurance market do not accrue or require NCB, so you have to bear in mind that unless the NCB that you have earned to date on mainstream private car policies is being used upon another vehicle - it will not be taken into account (due to expiry) if you attempt to use 2 years after expiry of your last mainstream private car policy.

They do represent good value if you have a vehicle that is 20 years old, which is a 2nd non-everyday car that is recognised as a 'classic model' and on a low mileage basis.

The classic policies that we have access to are aimed at the non-modified original specification models such as MGB's, Triumph Spitfire's, E-Type Jaguar's etc.

If this expands to include a retro/custom capacity in the future (ie. to include modified vehicles), I will post on here to let you all know.

Kind regards

Tony

Hi Dan,

No worries.

The best bet would be to use our online application via our website, you could then copy & paste your spec onto the application.

You are able to put the date required in advance (including more than 30 days ahead) and you would get an estimate, but any application thats way ahead will need to be verified nearer the time that cover was required.

It's likely that the terms will not have changed, but all Underwriters reserve the right to alter terms when it's outside of their guarantee period.

Kind regards

Tony
