as in what ya gotta take into account

was thinking about turboing a saxo engine, im guessing its not just porting and flowing the head and fitting low comp pistons


what else ya gotta take into consideration ????

depends if you want a propper job,, or a bodge

the way you are going to control the fuel/ignition is always the hard bit

you'll find that the head/cams will be fine up too a tidy amount of hp!
might not need to drop the compression if you are having only a tidy increase in power

i remember reading in max power a couple of years ago,there was a turbo saxo vts making 190bhp and it cost about Ł3000 from a specialist, cant remember the name of the company,i think it was cituning something like that

well i was thinking of after market management ( secs, omex ect)

just wondering if the crank, rod stroke ect is a thing to consider

oh and doing it proper but not going tooooooooo mad

as in not bolting aturbo standard engine and a bleed valve ect

Just whack a T4 on and a bit of NOS for 400bhp, then go and join the Saxo forum and you will be right at home!!

Why the fuck would you need to port/flow the head?

Crank and rods will need doing depending on what power they good for, makes no real odds if turbo or now, its power n revs.

cheat a nice simple way, fabricate a turbo fanny mould and chuck a small turbo on keep the boost to 3 to 5 psi and disconnect the Lamda sensor.

it will run fine and gain some bhp and have the lovely max poo dump valve sound

what i ment was flow the head to allow more air flow for the turbo and was talking about the stroke ect of the crank and rods, think changing em for steel jobbys is going tooooooooo far


just was wondering as i got a mate with a saxo and hes saying turboing a saxo is too much and they never work


hence my question as ya can zetec a erst for around 3 grand in total ( the whole lot for a rough budget that is, start to finish with all parts )


what about engine swops on em what ya seen fitted and whats the issues peeps see with em ( apart from neons in way to allow the sump to fit ect )


think about it what does a saxo weigh, be nice to have a quick saxo and be a real ford fan, just to stick the knife in


as it quick saxo built by cosworth

Err mate, Turbo cars generally have SMALLER ports etc than non turbo cars

Our car is SC but same principles, the stock ECU doesn't like boost so you can fool it and use extra injectors or standalone.

Stock rods and crank are rock solid, I have still yet to see them fail and have seen them revved to 8800rpm.

Pistons need done if your planning on over 180bhp at wheels, Omega Forged are available at Ł460+VAT. Stock followers pump at anything above 7500rpm, but no need for any higher revs to be honest. Other than that the engines are great.

and i never knew that turbo cars have smaller ports, glad you told me that now

im sure the erst's have the same heads though


was asking is it possable to turbo a saxo vtr/s engine and get a decent enigne or is it a fooking waste of effort

just the 16 zetecs made me think

and then maybe saos will be fun cars when they try and race ya

Ginge, what i mean is you can get the same power from much smaller ports with a turbo than you can normally aspirated...

do ya think it would be a good idea in all honesty, i know you aint part of the gotta be rs or bust group


i recon would make a decent saxo, jap styling and wquick engine ( 220bhp in a roler skate would be cool imo


( think ive been working at halfords too long now )

fancy taking on a new project barry, its a chaved up saxo though ( sorry), i wenna make it have more power than just "looks" ( as its fooking dont look good trust me )

i remember reading in lax bowels magazine a guy had an xr2

someone from the mag said it was IMPOSSIBLE to just turbocharge the engine

so he did it

it took him a good few months

but he sorted it

im guessing its easy to fit a turbo to any engine, just goes on the air intake and connects to the manifold as well, but can understand the fuelling being an issue etc.

anyone ever turbo'd a 1.1 fiesta and see what it does

imagine the lag with a t67 on a 950cc fiesta, wouldnt blow that fooker, bet u wouldnt make it spin hardly

Sounds not a bad idea barring the jap styling

If the std crank n rods are really that good, and can be revved to 7500 with ease, then sounds a decent idea.

As they such light nible lil things, perfect for the track but never gonna be a straight line racer, id rather do a high boost supercharged conversion...

Std crank n rods, low comp forged pistons, cams, ported head, big intercooler, big fueling, big manfiold n zorst, and a BIG supercharger blowing 1.5bar+

Yeaaaaaaa Worth it for the sound alone.

Ive seen a turbo 1litre saxo and a turbo 1litre nova, anything can be, even the crappiest of engines can be simply turbod for not loads of cash, dont mean itl be all that powerful, dont mean you can run much boost, but it can be done.

Stu- T67? As in Trust/Greddy? They not that big, not really much bigger than a RS500 T4 so would probably boost before the redline, just, lol.

The engine is the good part, unfortunatley the MA series gearbox is a bit weak, they can last a while or die in a matter of a hundred miles dependant on driving lol And at the moment there is no cheap(less than sort of Ł3k) fix for a box...... saying that they are available at about Ł150 second hand so if you fancy swapping now and then hehehehe.

B19Bal I need to go out now but seriously if you want to chat send an e-mail.

Oh and a quick side note, the SC is very progressive so wheelspin isn't that bad(even at 200bhp+ at wheels), never driven a turbo one but big torque spike through front wheels
= well work it out lol.

We should be at Crail on Sunday with a 200bhp at wheels 106 GTi so will tell you times and terminals.

oh and as for japm styling im not kitting, its got a wings west kit with a flick thing at the front ( i honestly thought the front of his kit was hanging off, what the fook it that about )

lensos that prokies fitted to the skyline

it did have lexus light but hes painted the mirror effect part of it and it dont look as gay ( still looks gay though )


its got a silly system in it though

oh and a fibre glass bonnet too thats pretty cool tbh, just needs holes where the scoop and vents are as that makes it look sooooooooooooooo gay

but its not a bad car, needs some serious work but im trying to convince him to fit a decent engine, why have the stupid flick wings west kit and a fooking vts engine thats slooooow as fook
