Default Broke Cossie Brakes

My lucky streak just keeps on going

Took my car for a run down to York today and on leaving, just outside of the drag strip my ABS and handbrake light came on. I pulled over and could see nothing wrong so had no choice but to carry on driving and things were working fine, about 10 minutes after that I went to slow for a roundabout and my pedal was totally solid as if the ignition was off. Needless to say I shat my pants. :cry I pulled over, couldnt find anything amiss but the handbrake light on and ABS pump was going mad. I unplugged all the plugs to the brakes so I could limp it home with its solid pedal and virtually no stopping power at all.

I got it home and had a look about it and can still see nothing wrong, plugged things back in and the pedal is still rock hard, anyone had this or got any ideas??????

it will be the abs pump or fuse, also check for power at the pump there should be a plug on the 2 wires coming from the pump they should be + and - with the ingnishion on

Sorry to butt in, im new round here I had the same problem a few weeks ago what had happened was the break fluid had cooked and over flowed out of the reservoir pushing the level sender up so far it got stuck all I did was wait for the fluid to cool then unjam the sender. God bless heat soak….. I think not!

Servo?Anyone who knows anything about cossies should know they don't have servo's.
It will definately be the fuse or the relay. The ABS unit does not fail and I have never heard of the pump to fail

The fact that the pedal is hard but the pump is pumping, and should be developing pressure suggest the pump is knackered.
PUMPS can go as can ABS units, all parts can fail the pumps especially so if the car has no heatshield.

Hi,
As Tabetha say, another possibility is accumulator defective.
If rubber separator in accumulator is defective, you have no pressure reserve. The pump run and stop in very short lap time.

Note that ABS module and pump are completly separated. You can disconnect your ABS module and the pump run still.

Regards.
