Do the gears select ok with the engine off - im guessing they will and that means you're clutch isn't disengaging properly.

I can't speak from experience but according to Christian of APT the payen rubber one piece gasket is the one to go for, so i'd give that a go

Its not so much the gasket thats the issue, (but there are better makes) its the way its fitted.

Use good silicon (resistant to oils and heat) on the half moons on the engine, and the joints,

then use spray glue, and stick the gasket to the sump, and let dry for 5 mins,
then spray alittle spray clue on the underside of the block.
Put sump back on, put thread lock seal on the bolts, and tighten only with a 10mm on a screw driver, and tighter the gasket will break up and push out the side.
after a run up, check the tightness of the bolts.

Job's done.

Could be the linkage out of adjustment.

Have you checked the oil level in the box lately aswell?

is there any particular gear that does not engage properly??? sounds like youve been sold a car with a dud box to me They normally are very stiff before they seize, could be the main shaft

All the best

un hook the linkage and try the selector shaft (molegrips or similar) if it moves ok then the linkage is at fault, if it dont you box is buggered

i had a xr2 box in my estate that needed bashing from left to right when goin up or down gears, it was interna (box had 3k on it and was like new)l but i put up with it for a fair while but it was annoying

What sort of noise is it making when you push the clutch pedal in?

Springs on the pressure plate are probably snapping and destroying the thrust bearing.

Default gears

if the gears are smooth and line up properly with the car off then it points to a clutch issue as stated above. but i still put my money on it being the box, what power is the car running matey???
