change it for a manual adjusting mk5 escort pedal...instructions are on ap website - only if going for a paddle clutch and their pressure plate...if using AB pressure plate i believe u dont HAVE to change the quadrant...not 100% from top of my head though

Its a good mod but the AP website isn't the best guide, its worth double checking the part number on the quadrant as they have the sizes listed all wrong on their site.

You should use the white 58mm quadrant, standard is 55mm.

when fitting the CP2000-8 or CP2015-8 ap recommends that the adjustable pedal from a mk5 escort is fitted along with a improved quadrant ( white ) this will optimize clutch release. the ford part numbers are ADJUSTABLE PEDAL- 1029012. QUADRANT- 1029013. hope this helps

that could be why my first quadrant exploded after 6 months

My engineering dad cut mine different to how AP suggest this time - where they cut to isn't the strongest way of doing it

It's a worthwhile mod by the way - as the replacing a worn clutch ratchet can be a bit of a nasty job

The size of the quadrant will reflect the amount of lift you get on the clutch, a bigger circumference will obviously pull a greater length of cable when the pedal is pushed a certain distance. Which bit broke? Where it mounts to the shaft?

I've yet to fit mine but cutting the quadrant is the easy way of getting the pedal height right, im fairly confident i can achieve it without cutting the quadrant, a shorter bolt should have the same end result, without compromising strength

It exploded into many pieces, didn't just break at a point

Think the reason mine broke is due to them saying to cut it to a point - my dad didn't like this and said it would be weak and may crack. He wanted to either drill a hole before where it's cut to or what we did in the end was cut it at a thicker stronger section of the quadrant

I kept the bits so if it happens again, can see where it's failing. Will put a pic up when i get chance

Thats strange because they are made of a very rubbery type of plastic, doesn't seem brittle at all!

I don't like the idea of cutting it either, the edge of it is very big and bulky, and cutting it leaves not a lot of meat to make contact with the bolt.

Im guessing you have got a very heavy clutch in there?
