Default TPS question

Now i was led to believe that 2wd tps were red and 4x4 were black and were listed as pf01 for 2wd and pf09 for 4x4, now i needed a 4x4 as my magenta saph is running L8 and had been run with a 4x4 tps with the two outer wires swaped, so i got a black tps sent down from Paul at NYRS and find it has pf01 stamped on it, i also have searched ebay to find a red one advertised as a pf09, wtf is going on, by the way this is in no way a dig at Paul as he genuinely thought the same as me and that they were colour identifyable.
Sorry to ramble on a bit

Steve.

Red was fitted at the factory. Both PF01 and 9 were red back then.

ALL weber Aftermarket are black.

Anyone running a L8 and NOT changing teh TPS and the wiring is asking for trouble. The system will NEVER run properly with the wrong TPS.

You need to make sure that you follow the correct procedure for setup, else you will have all sorts of probs with your ICV

The base voltage needs to be less than 0.6 volts when at idle. MEasure with a voltmeter at the ecu plug end. I believe it is pins 30 an 17 to measure across, but dont quote me.

I have a sheet that tells you the Ford how to guide. PM me your email address and I will forward the manual to you

This is the way that the technical tuning manual tell you to do it, though in my experience, this doesnt always give you the correct result.

Best is to set up with a multimeter if possible, else the above is second best.

Moonstone Steve - Dont have a PM yet matey - need your email address!

far from fine pal.
Idle is more critical than WOT when adjusting.

Aha! If he has a SECS ECU then this should help, but when my TPS was set incorrectly, the ICV didnt operate, and the idle was up at crazy rpm. Even so, the tps delivered 100% at the top (but was too high at the bottom)

Colour is the last way to identify a part - always go by the part number.
