Default s2 grs intercooler fitting question

Just bought a front mount grs intercooler with single 10" kenlow fan for my series 2 rst, i have removed the bumper today to fit the cooler with the intention of fitting the fan in front of the radiator and then the cooler in front, i have so far fitted the fan to the radiator, now started to mount the intercooler but it is fouling the bumper in several places, would just like to no where people cut there bumpers and if they cut the front lip of off the cross member, hopefully someone can shed some light on the problem as i am desperate to fit the cooler... also any pics would be great..

Dont think the cross member usually gets trimmed, but the bumpers are common normal to need to trimming.

Oh, and its probably best i tell you while you haven't yet fitted it, your guna need 2 fans unless you want it overheating

Default intercooler

surely it shouldnt be a problem with 1 fan there are many around running 1 fan, and you only get one from standard, could understand it being a problem if the fan was in front of the intercooler, do ya have any pics of 1 being fitted? or fitted with the bumper off

Try it and see mate, ive read a lot though where people only have one fan and get overheating problems

You've got to remember the intercooler is a MAJOR restriction of air flow to the radiator, and the fan can't draw much fresh air in.

I don't have any pictures mate sorry Do a search theres lots of threads about that had pictures

you shouldnt have to cut any of the bumper if it's a GRS EVO 4 or 5.
did you buy it new? and if so did you tell Graham you was putting the fans between the rad and cooler? cos he puts the brackets in different places depending on how you fit it.
you are probably gonna need 2 fans aswell

i fitted an evo 5 intercooler to mine a little while back. what bumper is on you car? in the kit you should have got a fitting kit which graham makes up to move your rad back?if so you will need to purchace a shorter alternator belt as will. personaly i had to shave a little off the top of the bumper but im sure it can be fitted without bumper mods. oh and two fans would be advisable and dont forget to put a little bend in the bonnet catch arm so it dosen`t foul the cooler i will post pictures after work tommorw if you want

you will def need an overide swith on the fan and you will have to put it on really early in traffic normal driving it will be fine, but two fans would be alot better, so one fan should be ok as long as your really carefull

Fitted one fan to mine between the rad and the cooler and had concerns with the cooling in the summer, would be alright at this time of the year i spose. Main problem is that with one fan it takes such a long time to actually knock the heat out when u stop.....and the kenlowe fans are nothin like as effective as the standard ford one! Fitted 2 fans and no complaints now, override switch as well.

i went with 1 fan to start with, then came the summer and i soon needed the 2nd!
2 x 10 inch kenlowe's will fit but you will have to move the rad back and get a shorter fan belt

You will deffo need 2 x fan's in the summer, I personally would fit it now whilst you have it all apart, rather then wait for a hot day to piss about taking the bumper and the cooler out again

rsdan just make sure you get an override switch in the car, its easy to do.

Ive got a diagram i made for someone else on here if you're not sure how to do it

Put the fan where it's supposed to sit. IE in front of the rad and behind the I/C that way even in August in traffic you'll have no problems.
