Default cylinder head porting

im in the middle of rebuilding my engine and want to match the ports to the inlet on my cylinder head and clean the ports up abit.whats the best/easyist way of doing this,n what tools will i need? what sort of gains in power will this have, or am i just waisting im time

firstly you can never wast time on an rst...secondly it is worth it cause every little helps...on regards to doing ot your self *dont* get someone who knows what there doing cause you could do more damedge than good

I saw the work of CNC heads at the autosport. Frankly nothing short of awesome. I think the porting was about £550 (can't quite remember) but when I've got the cash, that's who i'll be using.

Or you could get a dremel out.......

I'd say have a go ona spare/scrap head, you can't go far wrong but you'll be pissed if you fuck your perfectly good head up

A dremel and some different grade flapper wheels will do the job, and by matching them all your doing is making the inlet manifold ports the same size as the head, and removing the casting marks so the air flows more effeciently

i done mine on my old xr2, took about 4 hours on it, i didnt have the use of any electricity so were all done by hand. i noticed how smooth the power came on, and ran better overall, she was completly choked up befofore hand
