Just watched it and wow what an interesting insight into the mind of a person with mental problems....i absolutely applaud him for wanting to become a bear The footage was just unreal...i have never seen such good film of them Its obvious the bloke had issues he was an ex druggy and alcoholic got depressed due to being beaten by Woody Harrelson for the Cheers barman job!...He wanted out and deceided Bears was his life..he did all school vsits and promo stuff etc for free!!Why did he choose bears????He studied them and found they would give him the longest longevity imo because it seems if you stay with em at the right period they are not really a threat to humans..hence why he stayed alive for like 5 years of 3month stints with em...through out the filming he would just show his true self getting pissed off with the land owners and poachers constantly saying this his his territory and his bears and will protect them with his life.....alot we wernt meant to see imo...He did cheat though saying he was always alone but on a couple of em footage shows a girlfriend who happened to be shit scared of bears!!!!!...NOW the climax...he was due to leave the bears obviously cause its the sleep period...and that year the bears didnt get as much food so i know you need to stay off and leave em be...BUT he had an argument with some bloke at the airport terminal which sent him to go back in with a girlfriend who wanted out and was gonna leave him...now imo he knew the bears he would be filming would be ones that hadnt known him and they would be hungry bears ...the last footage shows something different in him...suicide or just getting too confident that he was on there level????..I feel suicide..and last audio tapes you are told the girlfriend dies by his side trying to ward the bear off.

I do feel sadness although he was not all there,having the guts to stop drugs and drink is hard enuff he had hit rock bottom but to turn to the life he led and give us the opportunity to see these magnificant animals up close is special.

I always feel when you do these things like Steve Irwin you really feel that you will never be killed you actually beleive you are these animals friends...and to that i say you are not all there even Irwin...the animals are unpredictable if they wernt we would all be filming them!!!!!

DID HE help the bears nope IMO...he made them easier for poachers to kill em by showing a humans are there freinds...........

did he not say a few days before or to his mate that he does not like the bear which ate him? that he could not get close to it like the other ones. also when he was ate it was at the end of the season.
