Hi peeps, was out earlier in the S2 and noticed once in a while when putting the car into 2nd gear and decelerating (without pressing the brake) i would get a loud whining sound...if i had the car in any other gear, the car was perfect...when the whining was happening, there was nothing else happening like the car juddering or anything...just a whine that was changing with speed...

it doesnt do it all the time...just now and again....tried changing through all the gears and its fine...even going perfectly into reverse...

am i looking at a soon to fail gearbox or could it be something simple like the fluid is low?

oh and the car is standard engine wise...

main bearing in the box is on its way out mate better to get it done really or it could go pop and take all the gears and box like my series 1 did to me try checking the oil tho

good luck with the brakes on urs...i have a rear disc conversion (most the parts apart from cable and brackets) if you are interested

nuffin special mate...just a ZT with a area 6 exhaust and inlet...turbo is a tebonetics item specc'd for around 380hp dont think the engine will run this though...not sure...as long as i hit 350hp genuine ill be VERY VERY happy

love the engine, i hate to ask this but where are you planning to get insurance for that sort of conversion cos i would love to build myself a mild zetec turbo i want one
