cvh low comp or zvh low comp?
Hi, i'm gonna do a new bottom end for my s2 rs turbo. i'm having mixed feedback about which 2 go 4. i've been told just to low comp the 1.6 botom end and that would be fine but i've heard u can use the 2 litre zetec from a focus. is this true? i'm running about 190bhp from a harvy gibbs top end, stage 3 turbo, switable boost chip (7 and 15 psi) and front mount intercooler. i was told with a zetec low comp bottom end i could turn the boost up to around 28psi and see around the 250bhp mark. which is the best 2 go for and whats involved? many thanks
I have used a bottom end from a Focus RS.
The compression ratio whould have been 6.3:1 if I bolted my head straight on because the Focus RS forged pistons have a large dish in them.
So a large head skim is required (or new pistons) I also fitted longer rods.
I am now up and running but have not been on a rolling road yet!
I had a 1.9 CVH which was running 27psi and 320BHP but this Zetec build feel a lot quicker!(lights the tyres up at 25psi in 4th gear).

In my opinion, if you go down the increase in cc route then you should change the cylinder head to a 16v item also. The most restrictive part of a CVH engine is the head!" the bottom end is plenty strong enough. I'd either stick with the 1600cvh bottom end, lower compression ext or do a full 2litre 16v conversion

450bhp is easily Achievable with the right cvh head,
but then gus is right takes a fooking lot of money and custom parts to get there, much easier with a 16v head.

I think you will find that I dont run much negative camber and my toe settings are at at 2mm total toe out, almost no torque steer!
The roads are dry.
You should try 3rd gear, it spins all the way up to 7200rpm rev limit!
I do have proper Avon ZZ3 tyres.

must be a problem with escort turbos alot of them have problems with traction. fiesta rs turbos with more power then yourself dont seam to have these same issues, but it also could be the cvh power delivery.
The wheelbase does have an influance on traction, and yes the Festa does have an advantage.
But the biggest issue on traction is power delivary and due to spec of my turbo unit it only delivers a small amount of boost between 3 and 4 thousand rev so it comes in with quite a force at 4200 so light the tyres up.
I would be going to Santa Pod this Sunday but I now have to work!!

Thanks for the info Stu, but mine does boost upto 2.5 bar at the expense of lower rev power.
My inovate lambda guage is getting repaired so not too sure where I stand in the fuel supply staiks?
