Default Are there any cars....

...that will do around 7-8 secs 0-60 and have decent fuel economy, say around the 40mpg mark? Needs to be for around 2k as well.

Be there isn't but figured I'd ask. Sick of what I'm paying out now and if I buy a faster car it's gonna cost me even more.

Could buy a Saxo VTS as discussed by someone else on here tonight but it wouldn't be my first choice TBH.

Have I?

fair enough. I just go in cycles. I think I've really had it now with all the money I pay out just for the car. It's starting to play on my mind all the time and really get me down

Want something with a bit more comfort than an RST though Rick, that's the problem.

To be honest, I would take similar mpg (circa 30) if the insurance was considerably less but the 0-60 was in the right area and the car was fun to drive. Just sick of paying close to Ł200 a month for insurance.

That's why I've considered a Passat 1.8t. But they are quoted as 8.6 0-60 which seems very slow for a turbo. Could no doubt take that to Stu for some improvement but not sure how much faster it could be made without spending a lot. As for fun to drive, not sure it would be

205 1.9 Gti could be a contender but too dated IMO.

Lol sorry. Do like the A4s but they seem to be hard to find and 2.5k would really be 500 over my realistic budget...

and passats are slooooow

think anything that will do a sub 8 secs 0-60, you will struggle to get 40 mpg out of it

unless you go up and donw the motorway only at 56mph in fifth all the time

Save some pennies for a golf GT TDI?

I'm considering one... this getting 20mpg from my car on the way to and from work just isn't good enough.
