Astra CDTi vs 330d vs 535d
3 cars....
Astra 5 CDTi 150 6sp mapped to around 200bhp
03 330d manual 5sp 201hp remapped
E39 530d auto with tuning box
In a run down a duel carriageway, rolling start, whats quicker??

The 1.9CDTI Astra is pretty quick for what it is. They seem to run neck and neck with the ST TDCI I had if that helps. With diesels though, it's the torque that makes the difference not the bhp.

The 3 series 330d's were 194bhp for the early models and 204bhp for the later revisions before the bodyshape was switched to the E90.
Which 5 series though? 530d or as the thread title says 535d? If it's the latter, it would outdo the rest.

Judging by my experience of Vauxhalls of late I would say the Astra will be getting recovered by the AA and be on the way to the dealer AGAIN whilst the other 2 battle it out

but the 530d would have about a 15bhp per ton advantage over the 330d?

Well i own the 530d auto and i was neck and neck against the 330d untill we hit top whack at an indicated 155mph. the astra couldnt keep up at all but does go very well for a little 4 pot diesel.

Surprised the 3er didn't pull on the 5er considering its the same engine and likely to be similar bhp/torque but in a lighter car... still, the facts speak for themselves, if you were neck and neck then I'm sure it was good banter. The closer the cars are matched, the better the 'race' IMO.

The Astra got spanked in a bad way!
The Astra was good off the mark and to about 70, then it got left behind....the BM's were neck and neck until the 330d changed to 4th then it started making away from the 530.
Round town it would be a different story I think but thats not what was the order of the day!
Astra was normal specced XP, 150 with remap, 330 is stock (owners not 100% sure that its remapped) and the 530 has a eBay tuning adjustable tuning box turned right up and the passenger/rear seats removed
