Default S2 starting and missing probs! (fixed)

im posting this 4a freind,

Here we go... right he brought an s2 on thursday he said when he got it it was running fine but over the last 2 days its started 2 missfire and have trouble 2 start....ive had a quick listen bth im no wiser than him, sounds like its running on 3 cylinders wont rev past 3500rpm on the road its gutless hes tryed new plugs leads coil rota arm cap still the same...but when u pull the oil cap off the engine stalls instantly? does this mean its low on compression??

any ideas ppl??

pulling the cap off and it stalling is normal because the breather system needs to be sealed for it to run, by pulling off the cap ur causing a air leak so thats normal

misfire could be caused by a number of things, do you no which cylinder is not working? a compresion test is worth doing for this fault tho, as you say its got lack of power too

any work been carried out on the car recently? worth checking the fuels lines from the metering unit to the injectors for leaks ect

could be the injecter try pulling the ht lead off one at a time (with the engine off) starting her up to c if the engine note changes
had this on my bros series 1 been in it for ages parked up for about half an hour and it started to miss
no 2 injecter failed luckily it was outside our home

might be a dodgy spark plug or ht lead or even dizzy cap !

change em can only make it better!

sorted..after changing almost everything and no joy he took the car down 2 nms ollie had a god few hours onit in the end it was the camshaft worn the lobes off new cam in and away she goes ......but now developed a nasty bottem end knocking!!
