Default 1.6 8v or 1.8 16v

I just got a quote on both cars and they are both the same. i realy want one for me first car and if i get one at the right price i can afford the insurance. What are your views on what one to get and which one should i steer to? Considering performance with aftermarket parts on?

Cheers

For a first car I would say don't bother. Lack of experience means you will pay a huge premium and you may well smash it to bits.

Get a shitter for 12 months to gain you a years no claims bonus and more importantly a little bit of experinece and then get one.

BTW I would get the 1.6 CVH engine as they are a doddle to do DIY and make more power and torque than the larger capacity cars

would just like to say i have a cvh xr2i as my first car, i would reaconment getting 1, if you think you can handle the power and also use it reponsible(my sound stupid) but my opinion, but if you getting 1 as above defently get a cvh 1 my mate has a 16v 1 and mine is quicker if that helps

i see what you mean by getting first years no claims, but the xr2i are such nice cars and i would realy love to have one But luckily i can afford to pay the insurance off straight away.

I've owned both. My latest one is the 1.6 CVH and that engine is much better and more reliable
