taking apart the driveshaft
hi all, does anyone know how to undo a driveshaft? i wanna clean them and put new grease in.
there should be a circlip(ford workshop manual and haynes)of some kind to prevent the 2 parts from slipping off? their holding on to each other in some way,most likely within the bearinghousing? but theres no way obviously to get in there. any ideas? thx in advance!

Right.......if you look into the CV joint, the flowery looking type bit thats on the spline, will have a little "opening" in one place, the clip is in there.[
As yzfr1boy boy said, circlip pliers are good here, i dont have any and have undone numerous CV's with a pair of needle nose pliers although its fiddly (bad enough with the right kit
)
You have to open the clip to release the shaft

there's actually 2 opening
U will prob have to rotate the circlip before it's opening lines up with one of the openings in the shaft. Make sure alll the greace is out, as u wont see it.
It's tricky if u havent done it before. It's easier if one person uses the circlip pliers to open the clip, while another taps it off.

I've also never had to tap one off they all have just pulled out very freely.
I agree though.........DEFINATELY easier to have one person tugging while you open her up
(sorry)
