Right.......if you look into the CV joint, the flowery looking type bit thats on the spline, will have a little "opening" in one place, the clip is in there.[

As yzfr1boy boy said, circlip pliers are good here, i dont have any and have undone numerous CV's with a pair of needle nose pliers although its fiddly (bad enough with the right kit )

You have to open the clip to release the shaft
