how much and was it worth it?
about 2 years ago i brought my s2 rst...and since then its been non stop work improving the car both the way it looks handles and goes! and now im wanting EFI and a 2.1 which is obviously going to cost alot so i just wanted to ask people what they've done to their RS's and see if it was ultimately worth it
I have done pretty much everything to my car and spent a small fortune on it over the years.
Was it worth it???
Well, it is ALOT better than when I bought it and I am happy with what I created, even though it needs constant looking after and is still being developed. However, when I see how much I have spent I could have alot of other things instead.
Swings and roundabouts really. I wouldn't do it again though.....

Thats it,i dont wana go through all this expense and end up regreting it.but then again i want my RS to be better and i think id regret it if i just sell it without knowing how good it could have been with a little more hard work!

That is why I did mine, because in my eyes, I wasn't finished with it. I found though that it is VERY easy to get carried away when you start....

i no what you mean mate i think its worth it if the cars in good condison and worth spending the money and it depends on how much you like the car i think you never get your money back on a car but you gct spend it on someting. you dont see all that many nice turbos any more and when you do its all the beter.

AROFL - You make it sound sooooo easy. As if a 300bhp RST is an easy thing to live with and build lol

I wasn't having a dig, it is just that we were saying the other day how funny it is that people now think that to build a 300bhp CVH (especially) is an easy thing to do because there is a tiny handful of them around now.
I do not think people realise what is needed to build and maintain something like that.

Either way you need a lot of cash and commitment. I'm building a zvh and the costs are just running away with themselves, but as said do it once and do it right.
edited- full credit to anyone who's achieved 300hp in a s2
well mines standard and i just cant afford to mod it to bigger power and maintain, im safein the knowledge though that if its kept well and standard, i'll prob make money on it when i sell it. they are really no harder to live with than any other car of its age.......if kept standard

Mine's running about 185bhp and she's fine. Hardly use her mind, but never had any problems when I do (touch wood !!)
i bought mine with most of the mods done which took the guy ten years to do it all and it come to the point he was scared to drive it so he sold it to me and now iam just doing stuff he never done ie bakes suspension putting my own mark on it. he lost alot of money on .
As said, with big build's you'll never get back what you put into them, time, and money. It's down to you how far you want to go and of course what you have in mind for the car, i.e shows, track, road car etc.
i was lucky and got nice s2erst witha very good 2.0l zvh engine with the suspension, brakes, interior sorted all i need now is my st3 t3, grs i/c, setting up and headunit and im there........all for Ł3k inc car
