the strange thing here is why bother to get your details and yet still deliver the goods to you home address?

also i dont most places now use the 3 digit security number of the signitaure strip, which is never on any paperwork or paypal details?

most companies will only send to the cardholders address, so that's why the parcel was delivered there. The scammers normally try to find out who the delivery company are and then try to get the parcel diverted.

Martin, oh right never encountered that. always had the option of delivery to what every address i choose.

Matt, sure your bank and the police will get to the bottom of it. Mate had a similar thing with a credit card. turned out a temp at the cc company was recording peoples details

And you will be suprised by how many toerags are employed by such parcels companies and how easy it is for parcels to go missing in Transit

Forgot about the 3 digit thing on the back, your right it is strange how they got that

I'll have a better look over my account transactions online and see if I can spot any dodgy looking payments.

I too wondered why they had it delivered to my address, I always get the option of having it delivered somewhere else when ordering something, just in case your not able to be in the house when they deliver.

Well to add to this, always felt reasonably secure with the 3 numbers bit on the back,

BUT

Yesterday morning ordered some bits from a shop (online computer shop) that ive used before, ordered all i wanted went to the checkout page entered my login details etc all i had to do was enter my 3 numbers, trouble was card was upstairs and i was down and couldnt be arsed to go get it lol,so tried to just hit continue without em seeing as i had used them before, but no such luck come back to same page, asking for the numbers, then the numbers numbers just come to me and was well pleased I had remembered them (embarrassed by the fact I could actually remember them lol) so put them in and clicked proceed and it went to a page to confirm ordering saying an email had been sent and another latter on confirmation of payment and then another saying when items had been dispatched.

Now had all my emails and expecting to receive items this morning

Only problem with this situation is is when i went upstairs and checked the numbers on my card they were a MILE out from what id entered

Am waiting till today to make sure I receive my bits (which i should as had an email saying the goods have been dispatched) but when I do who should I complain to the shop or my bank, OR will the bank cancell payment at a latter date cos the shop accepted incorrectly, not trying to get a freebie or anything but this surely SHOULDNT happen, makes a mockery of the "proof of POSSESION" 3 digit code

Not had any items sent out [maybe you won a prize you didn't know about? ] but had my debit card skimmed and cloned the year before last, I remember going to the bank to get a nifty out to play golf and it came up the days limit of withdrawals had been reached...

Turns out they'd taken out £500 every day for 4 days Well, you don't check your balance every day do you....

Anyway, you probably know this but its basically the banks fault as you pay them to look after your money

They refunded it no grumbles with a police incident number

Last weekend I paid for something with a credit card, no signature, no PIN, no security code and no-one checking who I was.

I won't repeat where, just in case anyone gets ideas but it was for purchases up to about 50 quid - not good, escpecially with all the chip & pin rubbish

It was the 3-digit code that caught out the people trying to defraud our Credit Card. We had a call from our CC company asking if some transactions had been made by us, there were a fair few of them, ranging from booking £200 train tickets, to big restaurant bills in Bristol and lots of smaller transactions. These were brought to light because incorrect 3-digit numbers were given. Our account was credited without question by the CC company and the poor Merchant Retailer left out of pocket, as is always the case.

Don't understand what the problem is, you have the lap-tops, you have the company's details, so all you need to do is advise them that they have been subject to a fraud and that you will return the computers etc, and they can credit your card back. No-one loses in this instance... .

Surely they have to do it pretty much instantly and given that they advised you, you shouldn't have a problem getting a free overdraft until they sort it all out . I'm sure if you speak to the bank and the computer company, they will suggest the best course of action so everyone ends up happy .
