Default saff headlamps

how are the headlamps configured on a 4x4 sapphire cossie?

ie on an rst there are 2 bulbs, 501 and H4,

sidelights is 501 and very low power H4
dipped is H4 on first filament
main is H4 on 1st and second filament?

does the saff run dim/dip circuit like the escort for sidelights??

cheers

yup exacly the same as the escorts including dim/dip circuit

Only difference is you've got an EXTRA set of drivign lights on the inner side of the headlights and foglights in the bumper. Which I think use a H3 bulb.

so is there a removeable relay for the dim-dip circuit like on the escort?

where is it?

was wondering as i was reading this

http://www.cavweb-forums.co.uk/showt...2de38a&t=67102

(good thorough thread, very ineteresting)

and it got me thinking, never bothered with the escort, but would quite happily do the conversion on the saff

so will i need a proper hi/lo set of hid's? as they are used for main beam too?

have seen people with hid's on cossies before but these ran morettes, and not standard lamps, dont really like morettes on saffs

Drivers Side = uprated ring sporz blue bulb 80/100w

Passenger side = HID conversion kit, I cant remember which rating bulb I went for now! I think it was 6000k.

other than the fact they look better, what are they like to drive with

my mate has HID's on his skoda (fabia vRS) and to say they are good is an understatement, they light up the road so well and you can see much clearer on lanes and in fog etc. he said he will never buy a car again without them

so are they a noticeable difference on the car, whats the beam pattern like and where d'ya get em from and how much.

i know mike r on here sells em but his kits are twice as much as ebay, should i go for these for peace of mind?

any advice appreciated mate

Well basically I've never got any further than that test pic I took! so I cant really say for sure how much better they are, but I certainly noticed a massive difference with just the one light in parked at the side of the road! - This is just purely down to the lack of time I've had to work on the car over recent months. I'll get them fitted in the spring hopefully!

I bought mine form www.hids4u.co.uk His kits are spot on and not like some of the crap ones you get on ebay (even though he sells on ebay too!) I had no problems with him and he was very good with after sales support. Based in Leeds and with spares in stock you dont have to wait for ever for anything to arrive either.

Mine are the bixenon kit. Where by when you move the headlights from dipped to main beam the light physically moves. This means you get HID in main beam too. Some kits have bulbs which are fitted with a halogen element too that light up when you move to main beam - watch out for this - nothing wrong with it but it depends on what you want!

He also does HID kits that will replace your driving and fog lights too!

not entirely, its T&T and insured, but just sitting under a cover at the moment. Been quite busy with other commitments the cossie has had to come last to it all

I just checked my invoice for the set I bought.

1 x H4 HID Bi-Xenon Conversion Kit - True Dual HID Beam High/Low at a total order cost of Ł249.98

ask him about this kit cause its not up there anymore.

He also offered me a deal for x 3 kit that allowed me to convert the driving and fog lights too.

Thats correct. Its a simple idea, basically the bulb is mounted in a socket The socket has a magnetic solenoid or something similar that when given a live feed (i.e. from the main beam feed) it pushes the light forward (or backward I cant remember!).

although you dont really need this. You've got driving lights which come on when you flash and use main beam.

My mondeo (mk2) is configured exactly this way from factory. I.e the main headlights only come on dipped and do not carry any extra elements or movement. The inner driving lights come on with mainbeam or flashing.
