Thats correct. Its a simple idea, basically the bulb is mounted in a socket The socket has a magnetic solenoid or something similar that when given a live feed (i.e. from the main beam feed) it pushes the light forward (or backward I cant remember!).

although you dont really need this. You've got driving lights which come on when you flash and use main beam.

My mondeo (mk2) is configured exactly this way from factory. I.e the main headlights only come on dipped and do not carry any extra elements or movement. The inner driving lights come on with mainbeam or flashing.
