Tried several brands through the years and the best pair I had were New Balance 750.
Ł34.99 at sports direct.

Preferred them to my ascics they replaced as I found them to be very light with plenty of cusioning.

Never got on with Nikes or Adidas, constant blisters.

we got my son a pair of ascics last year, couldn't believe how light they were compared to "normal" trainers, plenty of cushioing, not worn out even though he's worn them for the past 10 months or so, and they were CHEAP at Ł13.50 for the pair on offer (were Ł17) and i must say that even though they look like a teenagers wet dream, they are as a product really really good

ok, so maybe the adult versions won't be as good, but it's worth a look

New balance are really good. There's a write up in runners world in regards to trainers.

New balance minimus 1010v2 at Ł79.99 came out editions choice.
Nike zoom wildhorse 2 at Ł90 was the best new version of an existing model.
New balance 810v3 at Ł69.99 was the best buy (best value option).
Merrell allout rush at Ł95 was the best new shoe tested.

Amongst the others were pumas, Adidas, salomon, inov, the north face and hi tec.

Don't forget, just because someone finds a certain shoe good doesn't mean you will, every foot is different. If I'm not running as a hobby, I'd probably shoot down to sports direct and pick up what ever is there.

Twiz is right.

Mate of mine suggested Adidas and in all honesty they were the worst trainers I ever wore running. Lasted 3 miles before a huge blood blister popped.

Nikes are proper comfy to me for general wearing but not great as a running trainer.

It'll be a case of trial and error.

Also need to take into account the arch of your foot as well. My old new balance had a high arch. Didn't have a clue at the time but were the best I've had.

If you are new to running I'd seriously recommend getting fitted for shoes or you could have all sorts of dramas. I know I did when I first started running. I've used all sorts of shoes ranging from Ł25 to Ł130 and every shoe fits, feels and reacts differently. I used to always say never buy cheap running shoes, however, I ran most the season of the British Army Cross Country Championships in New Balance 789's from Sport Direct which were Ł25 rather than my Ł100+ Adidas and they were brilliant. My Adidas Adizero Pro 4 are mega, so comfy and light, but they wore out so fast. I only wear them on track now for sprinting.

As muz said go and get fitted properly i also found theres so many different types of trainer depending what kind of running your doing i.e road, track, trail ect.

I ended up with some nike lunarglide + 5 and love them had no problems with them at all upto now and had them for a couple of months now.
