Home gym
Home gym
Alright all
Jut wondered if many people have made home equipment. Basically im sick of the gym, and the cost every month when I cant train when and how I want. So I decided to ditch it. And im building one in a garage im renting which has some general crap from the apartment. Its about a 10min walk so nice and close. Not the best but be awesome for lifting in. getting some sandbags soon for some power cardio and loading etc.
Though due to money, im thinking of making a power rack rather than buying as they seem very expensive and im limited by height. And as I train alone I need to make sure if I miss a heavy squat or bench etc then ill be ok, plus able to sue it as a laoding platform.
Was thinking wood mainly but now thinking of scaffold. Anyone done any atall? Just thought ask as some serious lifters on here.
Got my Olympic barbell on order, got wheels for it to for when going on fliir etc so dosnt make a racket as garage back onto a house, but just need to find some cheap Olympic weights if anyone knows of any?
Really getting to me not training and as been spending time re habing my back I need to get lifting again and make some progression to competing in strongman.
Cheers all.

I have a home gym and all I have is a power rack, olympic barbell, 180Kg of loose weights and some adjustable dumbells.I find that I can do everything that I need as I concentrate only on the main compound movements.
I suppose you could make it from timber or scaffold but to install cross members at various heights may prove to be difficult.

along with a log, dinnie handle reps, maybe some farmers and kegs etc. though SM equipment really for speed events and that, main event training be at a olympic gym tbh.
been having alook and found some plans. looks doable, and atm money is the key as being made redundent/ skint.

Here's mine, I finished it last night.
A view from the doorway to the right.
The excellent Bowflex Selectech Dumbells. Adjustable from 2kg - 22kg.
Sparring Pads.
Squat rack. I can also move my bench across and use this to bench. I have free weights up to 120KG.
The excellent Bob XL training partner. There is nothing better for sparring with.
Pull up bar and speed bag bracket.
Multi Gym.
Kicker iPod station. You simply cannot train without music!
Notice board with traiuning routines and weight chart.

That is nice Stu. How do the adjustable dumbells work though? Never seen anything like that before.
Do you just hook the appropriate plates on as and when?
