Default Mk5 Fiesta - can door locks be rebuilt?

Folks,

Got a tidy wee mk5 Fiesta just now but the driver's door won't open with the key. Had a few like this now, and the key works fine in every other lock, including ignition!

Is there any way to rebuild the lock barrel to suit the key?

Cheers

Yep, should be able to get a kit from Ford. Fiddly, but do-able!

I have a similar problem when trying to unlock the drivers side- there's a knack to it. both keys are the same but the passengers lock works ok.

question- do both locks operate the same? if they are identical, is it feasible to switch them over? I don't mind having this issue on the passenger side!

They should be sided, otherwise when you lock it it will be openable with any ford key

It's fairly simple to change the lock barrel around but is it worth it when the rebuild kits are only about £20?

The kits from Ford are now about £40+VAT

Keep an eye out though, just got a brand new one on ebay for £10.50 Just need time to sort it out now.
