IN THE REALISTIC WORLD, WHATS BETTER CVH OR ZETEC TURBO???
I know zetecs look better on paper, but its out on the road that counts...
i need you guys to help me make up my mind bein that i dont know anyone with/been out in a zetec'd turbo rs!!!! what i want people to take into acount is:- If there was a 250bhp CVH and a 250bhp Zetec turbo what will be the faster car??????? Thing is my mate had a 1600 low comp'd with big turbo etc mk3 fez turbo, and in all the months it was on the road he NEVER got beat in it on the road!!!!he recons it was runnin around 230-240 BHP and it scared the hell out of every1 that went out in it. It pulled from his dads 350 bhp rwd saff on the motorway!! saff was runnin 30psi of boost,he was runnin 17psi!! He Had one of them really accurate G-Tec Pro thingys which measure everything you would want it to.He recorded 13.1 , 13.4 & 13.5 qtr miles on it!!! he also was consistantly recording 5.0 - 5.4 0-60's all day long as well.. To check out how accurate it was he did 0-60 trials at silverstone last year and recorded a 5sec Dead!!!!!! the only thing that was a close tear up was with a 480bhp supra round our way, which may i add ... he was on the supras bumper from the green light right up to 120mph befor the supra stared pulling awy very slowly. The fez also used to get round to 150mph with a 1000rpm to go,but it was to scary to take such a little car any faster. IM just scared to invest my money into something that could potentially be slower. HELP ME All views will be taken on board!

Id stick to the cvh . Dont forget torque wins races bhp wins engines, a cvh is gonna rev and pull harder with all the punch you want where as zetec would probably rev smoother and maybe that bit slower.
TBH lately there seems like u can create similar engine power with both setups ,down to the individual . A strong cvh tho will require steel components in reality which may cost more than a standardish zetec block as these are a bit stronger in o.e form.

put low comp pistons and steel rods in a zetec and you can easily get 300bhp
as for which is better, down to personal preference mate, i didtched the cvh and now gone zetec turbo

no. Zetec's has an infinite supply of performance goodies in US. Those are meant mainly for Zetec-E engines 98->, but can you get a set of eagle rods for CVH for $350 -> Ł200 incl VAT, Customs and shipping
Service parts for CVH may be cheaper but in order to maintain a 200bhp engine you are looking for modified head and turbo spec internals. FRST and ERST owners know how much the O.E. turbo parts from Ford set you back. Zetec-E and probably also the pre 95 Zetec can do the same with stock internals, less the pistons.
Oh.. and you need to swap cams in CVH in every 140tkm, whereas Zetec runs 250tkm with a set.

i think at the end of the day its all down to what you want from the engine.. ie power or reliability. i dont think you can have both in the same sentence in most cases. i think 200bhp is the limit for a cvh to keep it fairly reliable, not too sure about zetec turbo
