Don't even go there mate.

The Fiesta has its engine mounted longtitudely and a Cossie has it mounted in line. Like anything it could be done but you would need fucking deep pockets. If you have to ask how much then you can't afford it.

First contact your insurance company and see what they have to say about a hike in power. Do not under any circumstances not disclose info to them as if it goes wrong you could be in a whole world of shit.

Assuming the car is standard I would start with the brakes and suspension (these on the road will be like endowing your car with another 30bhp as you will be able to corner faster and brake later). My personal choice would be Koni shocks and Eibach springs with a strut brace (budget on Ł600). At least a disc and pad combo for the brakes something like Tarox 20 groove discs and Mintex pads (Budget Ł250)

Decent wheels and tyres will improve things dramatically. Avoid rims bigger than 16" as it will proove detrimenatl to the cars handling (budget Ł800)

From there you can up the power. Start with a decent full exhaust from a company like Magnex (Ł255) and a K&N panel filter in the original air box (Ł35) Drill the airbox to aid air flow but also restrict warm air being drawn in like with a cone filter (free!).

You'll now be about Ł1900 down on your budget or more if you have these parts fitted for you but you will have your basics and will get you going nicely from there you may want to talk to tuners but at least you will have a chassi sthat will cope with all the extra grunt you are likely to throw at it.

Wouldn't waste any time with a boost valve they do bugger all and can cause problems

I would go and speak to a few tuners and tell them what you want from the car and see what is offered. Where abouts in the country are you?

You will find that most tuners get a lot of FTW's (Fuckin Time Wasters) that want big things and expect a 100bhp increase for Ł200.

Not sure who the tuners are in the Newcastle area. Might be worth posting in the general forum and see who people suggest.

I've ideas I would do but there may be better ways. Some companies are fitting motorbike carbs with very good results

hi m8. ive got a zs aswell. i put a puma engine in mine last year.

ive got a 4-2-1 manifold and full system and panel filter.

the best engine to go for is the puma 1.7. its the easyist to fit. it uses the same engine mount locations and u can still use the zs gearbox and driveshafts. just change the wiring loom and ecu.

i fitted mine myself and im not a mechanic thats how easy it is plus i saved around 1k on labour charges.

defo the best to go for

yeah theres a gd difference m8.

well i have beaten vts's mk4 golf 2ltr gti. and the 1.8turbo. 150bhp nissan almera gti's. i raced my m8s honda crx delsol 160bhp vtech and it sits rite on its arse. so there is a gd power difference

What about putting up with some jiggery pokery and sticking a 2.0 Zetec in there? 136bhp before you even start dicking about. Nice set of bike carbs and you'll be looking at a very quick little car

hell of alot more hasle for little gain. dont get me wrong thats wot i wanted to do myself. didnt see the point in goin from a 1.6 to 1.7.

but i foned around to see wot i would need for the conversion and no1 would give me any info on it.

the 1.7 is the easyist, the loom just unplugs and the puma 1 just goes rite onto it without any cuttin wires. same engine mounts and the zs gearbox and driveshafts fit. so saves alot of ŁŁ

yup a 1.7 would be a good choice as above have done a conversion witha friend in a ka and that was simple easier than my cvh into my ka!

the insurance wouldnt increase as much as it would witha cossie engine (as puma 1.7 is group 8 i think and cossie is towards group 20) in (plus to get that cossie in ya car ya lookingt at over 10k i reckon).

get a 1.7 head work, 4-2-1 manifold should see decent power!

good luck fella!

speak to pumabuild or pumaspeed for info
