erm just a genaral wondering whats the difference between the two cos personally i think there both the same ( insurance company's dont )

The RS1800 has an extra 25PS (130PS) over the XR2i (105PS). The differences come from different inlet manifold, cams and ECU.

 

As above, different internals and tuning.

The 1.8 XR2i was the replacement for the 1.6 and the RS1800 was the replacement for the RS Turbo. The XR2i engine was restricted so it wasn't as fast as the RS1800

 

And it had oil spray jets under the pistons.

In Germany the XR2i 16V had the 130 PS engine, looked just like the 8V just had the bucket seats inside, the RSTurbo wasn't allowed to be sold, the 1.8 16V 105 PS was called "S" without the bodykit but with the bucket seats. RS1800 also wasn't sold here

 

I've never seen a 130ps xr2i, do they look the same as an rs 1800 ?
