Default Thinking of Fiesta Turbo in Denmark... Need help

Hello!

I have a Xr3i and a RS2000... Now littlebrother got a Peugeot 106 GTi @ 139 hk with other cams and stuff..

Well... He's faster than me now.. topspeed i dont give a damn about..

In Denmark we only have ONE Fiesta Turbo :-/
Now, i would like to have nr. 2

It's not that simple i can see now, with stupid rules we have..

I have to get a Xr2i with the 110 hk, not 105.. And then put a RS Turbo in it, because we have the 20% rule about tuning cars
And the Rs Turbo have the 132, so that's precise 20%

Xr2i should be the smallest problem... I plan buying it in Germany! That should be about £1800 (the car is about £900-£1000 and then we have our lovely customs... puke...)
The engine is gonna be the problem...
I've spoken a bit with the owner here in DK, and he says it's the Fiesta RS Turbo engine i have to get, 'cause of the EFI, right?

I've read some more, and it seems these engines exist in England an Italy... (?)

Could i just throw in a ERST instead? And get a EFI later?

Can't think of more to write now, but i think i have a LOT questions to ask.. later on..

I don't know much about it all... My dreamcar is the Escort Cosworth, but now the Fiesta Turbo is easier to get for now..

Escort Cosworth is about £14000-£18000 with plates 'cause of the customs

So... Any that can cheer me up to get a Fiesta Turbo, or maybe some critics against it and so on.. And ANY help would be great!..

My plan was FRST with 200+hk (about 200-210hk)

BEST regards
Martin Falkenberg, Denmark

The conversion from xr2i - RS Turbo is quite straight forward, the engine from the escort rs turbo is no good as you need the crank postion sensor and the management is totally different to the efi unit.

Easy option is search ebay for:

OFAB Mangement: ECU, Wiring loom, blue injectors, and edis module.

Then source a N/A 1.8 zetec bottom end from an escort/mondeo:

if you bolt a FRST/XR2i head onto a standard 1.8 Zetec bottom end you wil have a 8.5:1 compresion ratio ( just a tad higer than std ). The pistons are good for 18psi unskimmed or 14psi if they are skimmed.

Then fit a T3 turbo from a cosworth or escort turbo.

Just an option if you find it hard to source parts over there.

Heh, I hear you bro..

We have very similar legislation here in Finland. My car is Fiesta mk3 1.6S, which is basically mk3 XR2il with mk2 XR2 carburetted engine and without the exterior stuff(body kit and spoiler). I have juiced it up with a Zetec, Focus RS intercooler + turbo and Escort Coswort T25 management. It's not yet bolted together, but coming slowly. We have a limit of 35% of changed parts, but when interpeted strickly it really covers changed not added parts. If this is true in Denmark also, I suggest the 1.6S as a basic car and add the injection loom on top of the original. You can separate it from a FRST or use aftermarket one. You can keep the original block, just swap Escort turbo internals and the head. The cranck position sensor fitting can be machined onto the original block.

First of all.. Thanks A LOT for reply's!

I think i've put it wrong at my first post...

At the 20% it means from the standard yes.. That means i need the 110 hk engine.. And then a 132 standard engine can be put in..
AFTER that I will tune it.. It just has to be.. eh.. I think it's what you call MOT... trough our customs to get papers that this engine is legal.. After that 'drive trough custom', I can tune it... And after 2 years, another customs check..
Hope you understand ;-/

I must admit, i'm a little confused now ö

DUDE_SWEET_FRST: We have NO FRST's overhere.. There's only one FRST in DK now.. So dont know where to look for an FRST engine?

I was thinking maybe someone in UK could send an engine (?) that was standard... And ready to put in a Xr2i... When i find a Xr2i

And a question again... When i find a XR2i, it has to be mk3.. right? A XR2i without catalysator? right?

I hope to learn more about this, so i can stop asking the stupid questions!

jive: Our laws in DK is sooo stupid... I'll see if i can explain something.. The 20% is what we can put in the car from standard. (We almost dont know ourselves!) We must make no 'constructive' changes.. That includes Turbo.. But anyways the guy here in DK have got his trough.. If you need more explaining, i can talk to a danish guy in Finland.. I think he was from there.. or Holland.. cant remember now :P

Well .. thanks again guys... Thanks for any help you can give me..

I hope i have my Fiesta someday....!

It might be hard to find a 8V XR2i without a cat in Germany. as they were so 'green' already back in 90's. Only one stupid mistake can be made, and that's to aquire a 16V zetec engined XR2i. If what you say about the total prohibitation of modifications of the car is true, then you would end up in trouble, as the engine mounts need little adjusting in order to fit with FRST transplanted.

jive: Well... It's a fact now then.. I must get a 8V XR2i...? Seems that Germany dont have any.. At mobile.de and autoscout.de. Maybe your country? Finland...

jrs: If it's 16v it has a cat? would that make it mk4, mk5? I could maybe buy one from England, and had it send over here to use engine.. I thought about that...

Uff, I really dont understand why you're driving in the 'wrong' side of the road

Thanks again for all help

If it has a cat then yes it will be 16v as all 8v do not have cat's . All fiesta turbo will not have cat only the RS1800 had cat's. Thy will be mark3 or 3.5 they won't be a mark 4

Default Mark 3 - 3.5

Ookay..

When i start really hunting down a XR2i, it has to be a 8v..
And then it's a Mk3 or 3.5 (Facelift) ?

That's a start... I will have so sell my RS2000 first though.. And my XR3i...

The cheapest option might be importing a whole FRST from Italy, Belgium or Spain. J.P. cars in Netherlands have an affiliate here in Finland and they have imported about a dozen FRST's from Italy and Germany. Maybe you could ask them for a price? http://www.cosworth.nl/indexen.htm

I've been looking at their site.... And at the Finland site, and i saw the FRST... 7200 Euro.. And then a word behind the amount.. What does that mean?

Because, then it sound a BIT expensive?
It's about 55000 danish kroners

But i will mail J.P. Cars and ask for a price... Or if they can help me

The black FRST is with aftermarket programmable ECU and heaps of other goodies. Note also it has only 55tkm on the meter... There was a slightly accident damaged FRST(just a fender bender) up for sale for 3500€( http://www.bsdg.fi/tuodut/tn_fiesta3.jpg ). The word 'verotettuna' means with taxes. Finland has the second most taxed cars in the world, topped only by Denmark So expect similar costs ...

The black FRST sounds good then.... But i will still have to pay the tax/customs. And no FRST's have been through. only ERST... And that's about 3500€ just for taxes..
Maybe that's about the same for FRST.. so 7200€ for the car and 3500€ for taxes..

But the black FRST.. If i buy that, it should be without the taxes right? Then it would be cheaper, and then about the same price when through customs in Denmark.

??

The other FRST on the page... Are they sold to other customers? And just shown on page to show other people what they have been importing?
