Zetec 1600 overheating problem
Hello Forum members, this is freelancewriter from France, this is my first visit to your forum.
I have a 1993 Escort convertible with 1600 zetec engine. Been no trouble for over eight years and then two months ago began overheating.
Changed thermostat, no difference, now have removed rad, flushed out, checked all hoses etc replaced new thermostat and road tested again.
After 10 miles, again creeping up to the red, rad hot all over but when arrived home, found the header tank stone cold!!
I had filled the system through the header tank!
After leaving for a few minutes, header tank water warmed up.
I have read about air locks, could this be my problem?
The only other thing I can think of is water pump impeller failure as the water system does not "pressurise"!
Any help much appreciated;
Thanks from freelancewriter
