mk6 escort door removal
tried getting the doors off my 3dr mk6 today, took the two gromits out and took off the arm held on with star bit, they aint budging lol, assuming there a pin in the hing or something, how do you get the buggers out? tried hammering them out with a rod but no joy

Once the grub screws are removed from the hinges and the check strap bolt removed, it should lift straight up. If not, hammer the hinge (on the door side, not the body side) up.

i had the same trouble on another mk6, i lost my temper in the end and put a jack under the door, jacked up to the max lifted the car off its wheels! i then proceeded to jump up and down on the door strip in a rage and it still wouldnt budge! cut the bugger off in the end.
il get the hammer on it tomorrow but i want ro keep the doors so i dont want to go mad on it

Make sure you lift up squarely to the car. Sounds silly but if your pulling at an angle and not directly vertical it wont budge. Wind the window down, lean through and hold as low down as poss. Give it a big pull and with fingers crossed and a few c**ts chucked in, it should work.

as mentioned once grub screw, stay arm and wiring is disconnected tap with a club hammer on underside of hinge will do the trick, they are heavy so another pair of hands will help

ssems strange they wont come off i can honestly say i have never had a problem taking a door off a mk5 or 6 escort just as above the two star head grub screws out checkstrap and wiring off then just lift them up! they should not be siezed on the pins or the door would not open

its strange as its been the case on two escorts now, im not bragging when i say im a strong fella i used to train strangman lol so a couple of doors that are completely stripped out would be no problem for me. its like theres something else holding the doors in the hinges or something.
bloody frustrating i felt like totalling the car with that hammer earlier lol

remove grub screw on the hinge area, you already have , (just saying)
door needs to be open in the right place,
open and close till you get the sweetspot think they have to be open quite wide
and its simple, just a little lift and they glide out,

Wd40 and leave them to soak, I'd had one that was tricky to take off when doing an overkill, the hammer and chisel soon moved it but it was tight, have an assistant help support the end of the door
