Mk5 rs2000 rev counter problem

Default Mk5 rs2000 rev counter problem

Hi there chaps
Quick question
My rs2000 rev counter reads wrong it goes way off the dial like 12000rpm and on idle reading 2k but is at normal idle speed?does anyone might have a idea what would cause this?

could simply be a bad connection or faulty cluster

Best thing is to use a multimeter in all the plugs then switch the ignition on (making sure u r properly earthed of course). It could just b a dodgy set of clocks.

Solved it mate.replaced the rev counter it self with a xr3 one and works spot on,swapped the white needle for the red and looks and works as it should
