Default MK5 ESCORT 1.8 16V ZETEC (starting problems, help me!!)

Well new car new problems, when i first got the car it was fine. two days later and in the mornings i go to start it. it trys to fire up then just turns over for ages, then eventually after 5mins of trying it starts. after its starter it dosen't run lumpy or anything like that.

then when it gets warm it starts first time. well thats what i thought anyway. but today i went to get the tracking done and i stopped the car for 5 mins to wait for an available ramp. then it wouldn't start for ages again

i have changed the leads and plugs. HAS ANYONE HAD THIS PROBLEM BEFORE. COULD IT BE A FUEL PUMP RELAY PROBLEM? A COLD START VALVE PROBLEM? OR WORSE?. the engine is completely standard too so it can't be mods mucking it about.

THIS NEEDS TO BE SORTED AS I START WORK AT 5.30 EVERY MORNING AND I WORK 20 MILES AWAY. I'M SCARED IT WON'T WORK FOR ME.

wiht the zetec you have the idle speed control and the maf and the cold start valve. all common hope you get it sorted have you ran on an empty tank recently and have you checked for crimped fuel pipes

the pump isn't noisey. it just makes a nice smooth silent buzz when i put the ignition on, do you know which relay it is for the fuel pump. i take it, its on the fuse box panel under the steering wheel with the rest of them?

when i start the car up and let it run, i unplug what i think is the throttle position sensor and the car runs quieter and smoother. WTF? i am trying to source a new cold start valve to see if that sorts it.
