Cleaning caked exhaust tip
Now im not talking a few months grime/shit, im talking about something that looks like its never been cleaned, its completely black, not even a tiny speck of silver can be seen
Ive tried what i normally do on my cars, a old cloth and AG metal polish but its not touching it, so would i need to use wet+dry paper on it? would that work?
I wouldnt let mine get this bad but i bought the car like it(rest of the car is very clean)

I'd give tar remover and something like jizer to break down the actual grime. agitate it with a toothbrush or something similar and let it soak for a while and keep repeating.
I've found with metal polish its great for bringing a shine up if the metal is relatively clean but doesnt do much if the piece is still covered in shite.

Try brasso. I've used it many a times on my exhaust and it works a treat. If it's really bad then let it soak for around 10mins then it should come off with a bit of elbow grease.

Soak it in WD40, then attack the pipe (NOT the mirror boxes) with a wire wheel on a grinder.
This will remove all of the shite and you'll be left with a dull stainless steel, then use a set of polishing mops, sisal wheel, mild then finishing mop and with the correct grade compound's
then it'll look like this after around 3 hours,

Another vote for Mr Muscle spray oven cleaner. Will break down the heavy carbon deposits and then finish up with some metal polish (Peek/Autosol etc) with wire wool.
