Default Best All Round Car Mop/Polisher?

Owning a black car is fun, and trying to keep it clean is another.

Ive tried many and numerous polishes and scratch removers, the 2 bucket method, using a drying towel/water magnet instead of a chamois and still can't get rid of the swirl marks in the paint.

Im going to look at buying a mop, electric polisher, the kind that look like an angle grinder without the destructive blade hopefully someone understands me.

Many moons ago i used one, but it was just a set speed one, it wasnt variable, and i managed ok with that, though i did splatter a load of polish about, the results where good.

Ive noticed some on eBay, variable speed, and they come with a selection of screw on heads such as this one -

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/PLATINUM-C...item20bdb75d74

Basically i want to use it mainly to remove swirl marks in the paint, and all over my car well all over i say theres probably about 10 - 15 stubborn little marks that are just scuffs in the lacquer that do come out with an awful lot of elbow grease, i think ive managed to eliminate two but there is still some evident.

Would one of the above machines be any good or should i go for something more of black and decker brand etc?

Also what polishes do you recommend i use on it? Do people still use g3 these days ?

The old saying goes you pay for what you get . Being a black car you,ll always gonna see more defects than lighter ones . I would clay the surface 1st before any polishing commences . Lots of do,s and donts when it comes machine polishing , things like pad selection type of paint , technique etc etc . G3 is a cutting compound your gonna want something more refined than that . There,s so much too it , have you gone on DetailingWorld . Very useful guides on there .

Depends on your budget for the polisher, you can buy a cheap silverline which is a copy of the makita for around Ł60,or you can buy a flex which is regarded as one of the best machines for about Ł400.
Ive got a flex and a das pro DA polisher,as far as polish goes theres loads out there 3M, menzerna,Meguires,Scholl ect
Best place to go for advice is www.detailingworld.co.uk

If your only going to be using it a hand full of times, your best bet is to go for Silverline polisher but they are heavy.

Thanks guy.

Yes did visit detailing world but seemed to be all expensive posh cars that had been done, either that or i was looking in the wrong section ! Though i did see one fiesta mk5 being done.

What gets me with all this detailing malarky is basically there seems to be say 20 different machines available arranging from Ł50 up to Ł400, about 20 different mop heads, and then about 300 different polishes/waxes/compounds !

I just want something basically that will remove the swirls and give me a fresh finish to work with, and then something i can use once in a while to buff the car up, or as they call it on detailing world ' correction stage ' or something im getting too old for this car malarky

Why is everyone reccomending rotarys? If you aint done much mopping before go for a DA, far less risk of burning through edges etc.
