Default Advice

Hi gents,
I am about to take possession of a new mondeo in Hypnotic Silver (a light silver). I dont have much experience with regards to polishing cars apart from washing the car with a wash/wax and then buffing it off when dry.

Can you give me some advice me as to what products you think I should use from day one to give the car a great shine that will last as long as possible. Car valeting etc is another world for me, I am ok at washing ,drying and hoovering but I dont really have a clue what are the best products to use etc.

Thanks for reading the thread.

Have a read of this link mate

If your car is new you may be able to miss the polishing stage but you will still at least want to clay the car as even brand new cars will have surface contaminants.

I recommend the the Werkstat kit that is listed in the write up. It is also very easy to use and you can quickly add a few extra layers everytime you wash the car.
More layers will increase the gloss.

Thanks.

I have been offered a perma gaurd treatment that they state will last for four years, apparently there is no need to repolish, just buff off after rinsing. Its costly at £200, do you guys have any views on this product.

Regards

Never heard of that particular one but general concensus is that they are a waste of money.
Also these treatments are normally applied by people that don't know how to wash a car properly let alone apply a full gaurd system.

I do not know of any product that will last anywhere near that long, the longest i have had a wax last is about 9months on my own daily driver and will be suprised of anything getting better than that.
Most will do 4-6months if applied correctly and maintained.

All in my opinion mate

Thanks guys, I will steer away from the £200 application and order the kit you recommend.
