What shampoo are you using?
Its the calcium in the water which causes that, you should use something better to wash your car with like this http://www.cleanyourcar.co.uk/washin.../prod_144.html
Its meant to neutralize the calcium in the water to stop water marks and it does, plus its way better than anything else ive used, including autoglym.
Plus you should always dry any water off, leaving it is not good long term, but using something like the above should almost stop any marks at all, but you have to help it along by drying it well aswell

Rain water! You don't get water marks after it rains, do you??
I have a water butt and always give the car the final rinse using rain water from a watering can.
Works a treat.

Wash your car with this: Zaino Z-7 Show Car Wash Its the best shampoo in the world bar none!
Then just before you start drying after rinsing, mist your car with this:Meguiars Last Touch (Drying Aid)
Use something decent to dry your car with too, i.e :Ultra Safe Drying Towel
Regards

DI is deionised, used for car batteries etc,
RO is reverse osmosis, used in marine fish tanks etc.
I have a RO unit with a DI unit under my sink. Mainly for the detailing i do, but also for my marine fish tank.
they basicly filter out 99.8% of everything in the water. so the water you get out is pure. so nothing in it to leave marks
