Since its almost 4 years since I started the last Pc and Overclocking topic, I reckon its time to do a new up to date one.

Have just built a new system comprising of the following components:

Main Pc Specifications:

• Case: Coolermaster Stacker 830.
• Fans: 3x 120mm
• PSU: XFX P1-1250 Black. 1250W
• Motherboard: Asus P8Z68-V-Pro/GEN3
• CPU: Intel i7 2600K
• CPU Cooler: Corsair H80 Water Cooler Kit.
  
• Ram: 16Gb Corsair Vengeance DD3 (1800mhz)
• Video: 2xRadeon HD 7970 with 3GB DDR running in Crossfire.
  
• Monitors: 3x Dell U2410 LCD monitors (All 24")
• HDD 1: OCZ Vertex 3 SSD (240GB)
• HDD 2: Seagate Barracuda 500GB. (7200rpm)
• HDD 3: Seagate Barracuda 1TB. (7200rpm)
• HDD 4: Seagate Barracuda 1TB. (7200rpm)
• Sound: Onboard
• Mouse: Microsoft Razor Habu optical.
• Keyboard: Saitech Eclipse II.
• Network. Gigabit LAN cabled through whole house.
• OS: Windows 7 64bit.

Backup Solution:
HP Mediasmart EX495 running windows server 2003 with 7TB Of Storage.
This backs up both my main PC's and my laptop every evening and provides a one click restore function for any drive or whole system as required.

Benchmarking,
Lets all use the same things, that we can get free so anyione can join in the topic and see what different machines do.

I will be running some more overclocking tests tonight to see what is what, but so far its loooking good. Ran heaven and Super Pi tests at 4.7GHZ already, and the results are as follows: ** UPDATED **

Super Pi. 7.66 seconds.

Heaven 2.5. = 3355


PC Mark 7 = 5936

 

A setup i can only dream about.

 

Not built a system in years now this was my last one, did manage 4ghz out of it, but it wasn't to stable every week or so it would decide to crash so settled on 3.6/7 ghz









and of course the dump of a corner in the spare room

Not a patch on yours stu but was pretty decent in 08/09

 

Still is pretty decent mate, those results are good.

Wait till my 3rd monitor and 2nd 4970 arrive Monday and will get some of it running on three screens.

 

Just seen your HD tune program, never seen that, will go look for it to test my SSD!

Mine is actually down on rated performance, just looking for new drivers!

Its all unpacked, assembled and looking good now. Ended up buying that damn Skyrim too thanks to another topic over on SN.
Oh well, will be downloaded within the hour... hope its as good as the trailer suggests!

Still loving Crysis 2 at the moment mate.
For anyone who hasnt seen Crysis 2. Its still the best looking game in the world bar none I think.

It was really to see if I got into it and I've gotten completely hooked. Have just finished some of the classics, COD, Half Life, Far Cry etc. It's in bits on the kitchen table being built into a new case. New spec is:

4Gb RAM
GTX 550
500W supply
Win7 64bit Pro
Twin 80mm rear fans
Same DVD player and HDD carried over.

Will post some pics up when its all together.

 

Someone should bump this post in 10 years and I bet we all have phones that perform the same by then, lol

Been tweaking it all week, its a long process but got her at 4.8GHZ stable at the moment and heading for 4.9 tonight if it passes its 3hr intel stress test.

Its on a full 7.1 surround system with subwoofer mate (Thats the black box under table to right), Doh... I missed those out of the specs didnt I?
