Remote Terminal Access Server Licence
Are you running an Enterprise version of Windows?
If so, a TAS licence is one that needs to connect to a special activation server that a company would set up when they buy the licence, in order to activate the operating system installation on both their static PC's and any laptops they may have. Usually only big companies use this type of licence as it saves them having to connect to Microsoft hundreds of times to activate all the PC's/laptops.
Can you connect to your office/workplace WAN and activate?
The other type used by companies (albeit smaller ones) is a MAK licence. The difference is the MAK licence can be activated multiple times, but the activation needs to be done via Microsofts normal activation procedure (like you would do at home).

Wasn't a 'thesis', was simply making a line of enquiry based upon the title of the thread, along with offering one of a number of possible reasons for the issue presented.
I only have access to MAK and Retail keys via MSDN, so I am unsure of the exact licencing procedures involved with remote terminal server licence activation.
Had a google, and came accross this. Hope it helps...

No panic Fezza I was grateful for any help on the subject at the time as it was a new problem for me to deal with that was above my simple knowledge of computers.
carcollector has called and explained in non tecnnical terms what I need to look at at the server end to see why its doing what it is ie not issuing a licence to me on a remote PC.
I looked at Google earlier and just got the run around, it was telling me to go to Microsoft and Microsoft were saying they dont sell anything so I jumped on here and within 3 minutes had far more info than my brain could understand
Some info may be right some may be wrong but when your stuck anything helps
