ROFL I have red lights of doom (XBOX 360)
After that epic topic regarding Eagle's PS3 v XBOX decision today I have 3 lovely red flashing lights. Got it yesterday and it wouldn't come on despite reconnecting all cables, HDD etc and powering up, left it for half an hour then tried it and it worked for ages however its doing it again now and can't get it on. Error code is saying GPU failure. 
Its under the standard 1 year let alone their 3 year so going to try it on with Play before I contact Xbox live support for my box. Typical that its just not long after Cod world at war as well. Shame was hoping mine was a late one but missing features or blowing up aside its been great at gaming.
Sidewayz will be pissing himself (whilst fondling his blu ray button).

I bought that Ł55 collectors edition of COD with the extras only wanted it for the week of double XP and that goes live dec 5th they've just announced.

Not really problem with hardware, just how its put together.
Its caused by the method they used in the models, to fix the heat sink to the cpu.
Ive fixed this problem on three 360's now.
Since Ive had my Elite it dont happen.
Of course you could do the old towel trick.

should have gone for the ps3 then haha
but i find it funny how they can make 3 lights flash up when the console is fucked but they carnt put there spare time into making the bloody thing work funny!
this happend to my bro when i was playing PGR2 he sent it back and got another no probs :thumb:

Update, discovered my mrs bought it late November ish last year (as they would being organised) so called Xbox live support up yesterday and the UPS bloke turned up today to collect it, really impressed. They also say I'll get a month gold membership card to cover the potential 2-3 weeks.
It has been an awesome games console and all is well now, happy. Just no FIFA or COD5 for 2 weeks. You can imagine what I'm like on the mic to people when I score with United or England.

Just the console, whatever games you want that are online compatible and a 12 month gold online membership which you can from most shops or cheaper on Ebay. Wireless mic is recommended too as its smaller, easier ear piece one not a headset like comes with the 360 premium pack.

Ah well atleast it will be fixed now,mine and my two brothers all had the 3 red lights lol they were all manufactured around around the back end of 05 i think?..But yeah since we got them back they have been perfect so i can't fault it all now,so hopefully it wont happen again..

It would of been bent.
The heatsinks pressed against the dual core by springs on the case, instead of being clamped to it like you see on a PC motherboard.
The excess heat caused by the dual core makes the bord soft & the springs bend it.
