Any ideas guys
Ok.. switched pc on as normal and selected profile in XP,however when windows loads up most of my desktop icons have vanished along with all my music and documents and videos etc.
But my hard drive is still showing nearly full(as it was before) but everything has fookin disappeared

when i try to open any software which is left a box comes up and just says "error opening config, did you install the software"
any ideas guys?

yip, its started your PC but loaded a different prfile(possibly temp profile). Go to C drive, documents and settings, Find the folder that represents your user account, so joe bloggs, in there you'll find your my docs, favourites, desktop etc. Back everything up then look to fixing the issue.

ru sure you chose the right profile? i think xp creates a new profile if you type in a username (no password) that's not been logged into the pc before... or the profile has become corrupt..... happens, dunno why tho'...
