You could try the old towel trick as seen on youtube..........

Basically you wrap it up in towels for 20minutes and let it overheat.....then turn it on and its fine!!!!

My brother had the same thing. They sent him a brand new xbox in 10 days with a new 3yr warranty and he had his for 18months before the ring of death .

Bloke who picked it up said he's full time employed to pick up broken xboxs. Picks up on average 10 a day .

Apparently the new Elite is the one to buy.

when i had one it took about 3 weeks to sort, they ended up sending me a new one because it was ' beyond economical repair ' according to microsoft, so after having 5 that got the the red ring of death and were ' beyond economical repair ' i gave up and bought a ps3 . tbh its a shame all the probs with them, because they are a great console, and i probs wouldnt have bought a ps3 if it wasnt for the probs.

 

Check the manual, there is different light combinations to what could be wrong with it.

I'm on my third one now I've just taken my previous one's back to where I bought it and swapped it for a new one

May be worth investing in an external fan that sits on the back of the xbox and as an added bonus its got cool green lights on the back of it

 

The new 360's are ok mate it's just a few of the earlyer one's that can fuck up.

As for the ps3 give it a year and it will be spot on but not at the min.
Online is shit no fucker on it.

Sony had a good run of a few years with the playstation...but they left it a little to late and will never get back the people who swapped sides when they fucked about with the PS3 release....

To be honest mate if you get a 360 you'll love it. You honestly forget about playing the actual game and you'll go online playing it. It's weird

I can go online 24 hours a day and still have decent people to talk to.
Even if they still had problems with them i'd still recommend it

because 360 owners go on about how great they are.........and how cool they are online......and now as an added bonus you can meet most of your online gamer friends in the the 360 stores around the country whilst you all que up togethor to get them fixed

 

its the same on both sides pal, the 360 boys dont have a good word to say about ps3's, there to expensive, shit online, took to long to come out blah blah blah. if you ask people who have both, or have had both, like me, you get an honest opinion, and as ive said, the 360 is a quality piece of kit, but they are so unreliable. there are pro's and cons on both sides, but with the ps3, theres no red ring of death, i had 5 360's in 14 months, all brand new, all broke, the last one lasted 3 days, i kid you not, i got my ps3 8 months ago, im still using it everyday with no probs.

 

But you would still swap the ps3 for the xbox anytime wouldnt you?
The ps3 is fantastic but at the min it's not the best game's console which is what the diehard sony fan's want.
Give it a year and they will be a proper fight between them. Seeing as what sony has just done.
Untill then the best console is a 360 and nobody who know's game's will argue with that

I agree with both to be honest and when i get my ps3 for christmas it will mostly be used for Blu Ray films NOT a gaming machine which i think a lot of people are doing too

 

why... just buy a Blue Ray DVD player then

 

Why? it's a blu-ray player that also plays games

Only reason for me is GT5 which i can't get on the 360
