Fella, i wouldnt swap my ps3 for a 360 in a million years, i had 5 360's go up the swanny, thats why i bought a ps3 in the first place, if you mean if 360's were reliable and i had to choose one, as ive said above, i probs would have stuck with the 360 because its a great console, and was more than happy with it in general, its great online compared to the ps3, and features like being able to listen your own music while you play is great rather than having to listen to the soundtrack of the game which you have to on the ps3, but not knowing if the thing is going to work when you switch it on will soon make you forget how ' great ' it is, im talking from expieriance. as far as best console, the wii outsells both so where does that put the wii ? and you cant call the the 360 the best console out there when everyone and his dog knows the unreliabilty issues. im not fighting the corner of either, or saying im rite and anyone else is wrong, just trying to give my opinion based on my expieriance of both. im sure there is plenty of people who have a 360 and havnt had a problem with it, and they will be delighted with it and wouldnt touch a ps3, but as ive explained, that isnt the case with me.

 

yes the wii is out selling them both, its a great little console, Super Mario is awesome, i have just sold my Wii tho as i dont use it

maybe i should spend the money on a 360?

I was a proper sony junkie but i cant even think about one now. I've been converted
Give it a year and the ps3 will be fighting it's own corner at the min it's not and to be honest no where near.
As for the wii it's a good laugh but not for the serious gamer and tbh never will be.
The online side is dominated by the 360 and i'd love to see in the future ps3 and 360 playing the same game's online against each other.
Now that would be the future of gaming

just been on with microsoft and they're sending a someone to pick it up in the next few day's and a turn around time of 20 day's.

Gutted to say the least. I got assassin's creed and mass effect over the weekend and i'm still trying to finish cod4 on veteran.

I thought I'd post my tale of woe and then subsequent jubilation as I know a lot Xboxers on here have had the RROD.

I bought Call of Duty 4 yesterday. Eagerly got home to play it, put the disc in, fired up the game, watched the rather cool intro and lo and behold, system crashed only to show the dreaded red rings of death on the reboot.

GUTTED!!

I guess it's one of those things...you never think it'll happen to you until it does!

I phoned MS and they said they would send UPS to pick it up and repair it...ok fair enough, but that means 3-4 weeks without my Xbox!

I use my Xbox for streaming all my torrents to my LCD TV, streaming my MP3's to my surround system as well as playing games so this was quite bad news. I'd already spunked far too much money on a night out on friday so I knew the rest of the weekend was going to be petty quiet what with no football and I was going to stay in doors play Xbox and watch a few torrents as the weather is crap (too cold, wet and dark to work on the car) so what the hell was I going to do?

So after moping around a bit feeling bored and dejected coz my Xbox didn't love me anymore, (even the Mrs was starting to have some sympathy at this point...) I started looking on the net to see what could be done to get my Xbox sorted asap. I found a towel trick that over heats the system until it starts again by melting everything back into place which seems to work but can be a bit of a fire risk...so that was out of the question or open it up and fix it myself..which voids the MS warranty..also out of the question.

But I also came across some information about the new 65nm Xbox chipset (rather than the old 95nm) called Falcon which apparently runs cooler and quieter than the older versions and avoids the RROD issues that have plagued the system for so long. So I decided today to go on a mission to track one down rather than sit there moping and if I found one, once I had my old Xbox back in working order from MS I'd flog it on Ebay.

Anyway after going to a few stores in the area and hassling the assistants with mad questions about the lot numbers and manufacturing dates of their Xbox stocks, I finally found somebody that had a clue at my local Game and managed to bag myself a brand new Falcon based Xbox. Lot 740, manufacturing date 05/10/07 - just over a month old!!

i've checked through the case with a torch and it does indeed have all the internal characteristics of a falcon (large silver heatsink, 2 inductor rings on mobo). It runs at least 50% quieter than my old one even during gaming and is barely warm to the touch even after the last 6 hours of COD4 and comes with an HDMI socket which was previously only found on the Elite.

Obviously only time and some hardcore gaming will tell if the RROD issue has been fully dealt with in this new version, but I would recommend that anyone who has had the RROD to flog your old system and get yourself the new Falcon version instead...even if it's just for the lower fan noise and cooler running. Also get yourself a £20 2 year extended warranty with Game who will replace any faulty system for you on the spot. Definately makes for a happy XBoxer!!

Ive seen 1 PS3 go wrong out the box. It wouldn't show on the TV through component cable. I thought it was gonna be the start of something, but Ive not seen/heard of one since launch day!!

I have the PS3, XB360 and Wii. My Wii has gone on EBAY and is sold (Brought a DS Lite instead for the Brain Games), my XB360 is sitting in the cupboard and has been for 3 weeks. My PS3 is used daily for the DVD upscaller or if I get time to play games.

The XB360 is a good console for games and I love Need For Speed Most Wanted on it (Not available on PS3), but mine has not been used for a while. If I get a game I get it on PS3.

Im tempted to get rid of my 360 and just keep the PS3, but I don't wanna miss out on any future good games with the 360.
