Default P.C built! now problem time...

thought i'll start a new fresh topic from my pc build one

so i bought the 5200+ chip.. 5.2ghz for defo a good price! & wow its amazing! actually does what i tell it to do & instantly!

BUT.. runs fine browsing web playing tunes & vids etc etc.. but just a moment ago i was "killing spree'ing" on online counter-strike source! well afew kills tbh nah im quite good but a good 20min to an hour playing the p.c restarts im thinking its overheating? i downloaded yahoo widgets got dual cpu meter, ram meter & a temp widget for everything lol hdd's, cpu, cpufan rpm, ram, system, core because i got dual screens i can keep a eye on them meters when im playing counter-strike, but when im playing they all seem fine not going max'ed but still restarts

cpufan is plugged into the mobo & i got two other fans i got on a fan controller (one on side of case & the other inside pointing up) obviously while playing games & when i feel like it i turn them up fully but there never on min always around mid rpm for normal useage, so its gota be something else playing up or it is the fans

Do i need more fans for this beast of a p.c or is it this weather now & need more anyway? my room gets quite stuffy sometimes like a sauna but not that bad! if you know what i mean, i just suffer real bad from heat

the amd 5200 x2 is not 5.2ghz, is 2.6ghz mate.

it could be you game! or your O/S
but it only restarts when you play the game?
what MB do you have?
what is the temp on?

yeah 2.6ghz mate ive got the X2 4200 which is 2.2ghz and that flies so i can imagine what yours is like
So tells us all the temps or show us a screen shot of your yahoo widgets showing your temps, plus your full spec?

I know what you mean about the pc being in a warm room, my room gets the warmest in the whole house because the boiler is in the same room, but ive got an Antec 900 case which is known for its great cooling(3 120mm fans and one HUGE 200mm fan!) plus ive added another 120mm fan to the side window so it keeps everything cushdy

Theres a shot just took now after a 3 hour bash on counter-strike, odd thing tho it didnt restart so it cant be anything else like my PSU, ram, OS etc..

When just playing cpu creeps up to 49'C & go's no futher, core & system just pop up 2-3'C

I think new fan for the back of the case & a upgrade H/S & fan for cpu

That does sound a tiny bit hot but nothing to worry about though mate. My Intel Core 2 Duo E4300 overclocked to 3GHz never sees past 42 degrees on full load now in summer conditions. I do have Titan Vanessa Type S heatsink on it though. about 60% bigger than standard and nice big fan as well.

I think the restarts could be spyware related or virus related possibly.

couple of other things mate, download and use Firefox, and also download the lastest windows live messenger bookmark this site http://www.filehippo.com/ it has both things on there plus hundreds of other free software, and as soon as a newer version of something comes out you'll find it on there, great site

whats your graphic card temps ? and what are your voltages ?

I would think its would be graphic card related probably temprature, specially if its passively cooled... take the side of the case and blow a fan at it to find out if this stops it happening...

i'd also check to see what your power supply is rated at and what you have running of it!

Download Atitool to monitor the graphics card temperatures m8, and also, I would reccommend one of these :

Depends what setup you are running because if you get an overkill psu with 3409834890734987634876 watts of power you will end up wasting most of it. what gfx card do you have, RAM, optical drives, hard drives do you have running off your psu?

and what is currently the power output of the one you have now?

cool mate, the main thing though is the graphics card. 400w does sound enough though to me...but you do run two optical drives and two hdds. the amps per rail may not be enough to supply certain devices though.
