Wireless Router and wireless cards in both machines. Can also use network cable from the PC to the router if its close by.

If its a fairly new laptop then its probably built in.

plug a wireless router into your modem.
then your pc into the back of the router ,
you may need a wireless card or it might be built in on the laptop. all depends on how old it is

basiaclly what adrian said then

Firstly, you need this :

http://www.ebuyer.com/UK/product/103185

and then one of these :

http://www.ebuyer.com/UK/product/118635

Ethernet cable comes out of broadband modem into your pc currently, that simply unplugs from pc and goes into the router. Suppied ethernet cable with router goes into pc and into router, wireless pcmcia card goes into laptop.

Setup the SSID network and get the laptop connected to it, then do the wireless security from the router via desktop pc. 10 min job

There will be instructions with it, basically, there's a network cable that comes out of your modem into your pc, simply unplug theat and plug it into the router on the "broadband/internet" port, then, plug a new bit of network cable into the network card on the machine (where the cable from the modem was) and plug the other end into a free port on the router. Should have internet access. Then, open internet explorer and type in http://192.168.1.1 (or different according to the manual) and there you access the router and set it up for the wireless network
