Tank's ain't easy to blow up, best to play as engineer and lay the mines underneath them Xfire seems to work well, was playing with Eagle and Ad earlier but I had to go to the pub Will be playing in a bit

On 2142 you can blow up a tank with one shot from a Pilnum gun(bit like a rocket launcher) but one shot from either that or another tank right at its rear end underneath and BOOM

nope, when i first started playing 2142 id never played a battlefield game before, i kept dying every few seconds but keep at it and you WILL get better i think its the pro's killing you all the time that make you better

the lower your rank is the easier it is for you to be killed, i've always found the game will favour the highier ranked players as its genuinely harder to kill them.
try going on smaller quieter servers with 10/15 players, at least they're spread over the map so you haven't got someone in every corner taking shots at you.
I gave up playing on the huge 60 player servers ages ago, as its just impossible to stay alive with that many people shooting at each other
failing that my offer of protection still stands

if people have to use cheats to play the game where is the fun in it ????

as said i havent played in ages but punkbuster servers dont allow cheats ie mods of the game
your getting FOUND because there commander has a full scale ariel view of the battlefield and can find you
only Spec Ops TROOPS carnt be seen from above ie the map "your invisible"
try being a commander and view the map..detail is unreal
ITS THE COMMANDER DOING THE ARTILLARY DROPS ON YOU..its not a cheat
hope this helps.also have a good read of
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Battlef...fantry_classes
[edit] Commander
View of commander mode with UAV scanThe commander position is an exclusive role in each team that is assigned via player application according to online rankings. The commander plays the strategic role of a battlefield commander, assigning objectives to squad leaders and providing artillery, satellite scan, UAV reconnaissance, and supply and vehicle drops. In addition, he or she can view any part of the map real-time. The commander can resign at any time, letting other players apply for the position. The team also has the option to vote against their commander.

remember that bushes don't render at long distances, so if your hiding behind a bush and a sniper is watching you from a fair way away, they'll spot you easierly.
the key to sniping is to only reveal yourself when your ready to hit a target, and always lay as far back as you can as the barrel of the gun can give you away.
tip for controls, change the crouch key to C, so you have lay down and crouch next to each other (X,C) just makes it easier to reach faster.
also make sure you have punkbuster enabled on your server search, as that'll help with staying on clean servers, but unfortunatly you'll always find the odd person whos running a cheat of somekind.

and decided to throw its toys out the pram. installed windows and was comming up with errors and randomly rebooting underload.
Bro said it could be my psu, running a 400W one that came with the case i got years ago, it has 20 pin and 4 pin power connectors and the mbourds 24 and 8 but was hoping i'd get away with using the old one as the mbourd manual states a minimum of 300W but does state that i'll quote from the manual "The power supply with 20-pin or 24pin can both be connected to this 24 pin connector. However, a 20pin power supply may cause the system unstable or even unbootable for the sake of insufficient electricity..."
looking at this one to replace it
http://www.ebuyer.com/UK/product/128675
but i'm umming and aaahing about whether to replace it as he also mentioned the cpu might need changing to (more money!!)
i'm running a p4 3ghz fsb800 1mb cache, bit of an old girl but does the job and the spec list states its fully supported, the only reason i think it could be this is after the comp crashed it would come up with a cmos scan but at the bottom it said "cpu is unworkable"
but surely if the mbourd didn't support the cpu the comp wouldn't boot at all?
Bit of an essay i know but this has left me a little confused and a bit worried as i just wonna get back to owning on bf2
any help and advice would be appriciated

Bit of a tough for someone on a forum to help, its a "need to be there to see" situation, unless someone doesnt mind typing the bible out to try and help
Also chris, dont get that PSU if you do get one, its an own brand so although it says 600 odd watt its probably not very efficient and the amps wont be very strong(even though it might say they are)
Get something like this http://www.ebuyer.com/UK/product/106366/rb/0 or http://www.ebuyer.com/UK/product/114931
Both 10 times better than the value one you looked at, i know it costs more but a good psu is very important, if this fails it can take your WHOLE pc down with it!

As above, this is a better PSU http://www.ebuyer.com/UK/product/114931 Antec true power one
Also,
Does that P4 chip match this : Designed for Intel® LGA775 processors with1066/800MHz FSB
Supports Intel® Core™ 2 Duo(Extreme Edition) & Pentium® Extreme Edition & Pentium® D & Pentium® 4 Processors
Could possibly be one of the ram sticks, I'd disconnect all hard drives / cd rom drives, and power it up, you could also take the cmos battery out for a few mins and put it back in and boot it up, see what it say's, bit of trial and error unfortunately m8

i'm running a p4 3ghz 800mhz fsb 1mb cache
Ati radeon x600xt pci-e graphics card-with a new huge artic cooler fan (old one started screaming)
2 sata hard drives one 160 one 300
at the moment running a normal cd-r drive but have a dvd-r drive ready to go in too (psu doesnt have the new style ata power leads)
the motherbourd and ram mentioned above.
running windows xp pro
it did install and run windows ok, was a little sluggish but came up with the odd error which i at first put down to the windows disc i used (bro rebuilt it with sp2 added) but it did run and i did manage to install all drivers and programs and run windows update which after installing all killed exploerer as it would crash on start up leaving me with just the desktop to play with
all this with it crashing randomly also.
i'm pretty sure it is the psu as the mbourd manual says what can happen with a 20pin connector but its just where it said "cpu unworkable" thats giving me second thoughts. it came up where the cmos lists your hardware in dos at start up, but after going into bios and resaving them it would boot up normally until the next crash.
I'd rather go for a 600w+ psu but it also needs to be 24 and 8 pin power connector (alot of them are 20) i was originally looking at hyper ones but didn't fancy the £80 price tag but if it comes to it i'll have to spend the extra.
