Default Vista - 32 or 64bit?

If someone had a Core 2 Duo system, and was looking at getting Vista in the near future - would you recommend them to buy 32 or 64bit, since the CPU supports both?

Any ideas? Ideally it'd be 64bit, but are there too many issues with drivers etc? (Not really a gamer, just want a fast as fook desktop for net usage etc).

Thanks

ONe would assume that the 64 bit version of vista is better, best to google it m8 and see what you can find out

The performance increases you will see from 64bit compared to 32 bit are near on minimal and when compared on the same system with benchmarks you have to examine these carfully to actually see gains on a few tests.
The reality is that the gains are not so much to be made from a 64bit of but a OS which supports 64bit applications.... Unfortunately for Windows you can count 64bit Appliations on one hand.

If you don't play games and you want a fast as fook Operating System Vista itself it ultimately a poor choice for the simple reason it does nothing new for the user other than increasing the demands on system resources for the eye candy.
In reality you would be better off if speed matters with WindowsXP and then slim it down and remove the features you do not require using nlite or litepc from litepc.com which makes windows vastly quicker or better still run a real 64bit Operating System which has 64bit Applications available for it now such as Linux ( I would suggest having a look at Ubuntu64 )
